BEWARE! This is a TOTAL SCAM, so don’t get caught out by these fraudsters. Loads of folks have already lost lots of cash because of these awful schemes, especially throughout September. They’re getting more common, so under NO circumstances should you hand over any personal or bank info. If you get a dodgy call, message or letter, report it straight to Action Fraud. Also, shout about it on your socials and ask people to share - we’ve seen that really helps stop others from getting tricked. Cheers for helping stop these scams happening to more people!

Got a call from a woman with a strong Indian accent who said her name was 'Sharon'. She told me she was calling from Virgin and mentioned there had been some issues with my router lately. She asked me about the lights on the front of the device. I told her the internet seems fine right now and then she just ended the call. About 10 minutes later the same number rang again but as soon as I picked up, they cut off straight away.

Some bloke with a strong Asian accent rang me up, claiming he was from Microsoft. He then put me through to a woman who clearly wasn’t a native English speaker. They said my computer was infected and tried to convince me to install some software so they could access my system. Bit of a mistake picking me though - I just ended up wasting about ten minutes messing them about before telling them my number’s already been flagged!

Really feel bad for Ego Hair Design, they’re completely innocent but this could seriously damage their business. Shows just how desperate these lowlifes get trying to scam. Hopefully Ego can turn this round by getting some media attention so it doesn’t hit them financially. With a bit of creativity, I’m sure they can make something positive out of this mess. I had a caller pretending to be from Microsoft, even used my name to sound legit. Didn’t stop me from giving him a mouthful though. When he got loud, I just ended the call and blocked him straight away.

I run a small hair salon called Ego Hair Design in Inverness, and this is actually our phone number. Somehow scammers have been spoofing it, which I had no idea was even possible! It’s been really messing things up for us since it’s the main way customers get in touch. Sorry if it’s caused any bother for you.

Just before noon, a guy with an Asian accent called me sayin there was some issue with my Microsoft broadband. I told him straight up he’s a scammer, and he jumped into this rapid legal-sounding nonsense, talkin over me the whole time. Looked the number up here and wasn’t bowled over to see loads of other people had flagged it too.

Got a call from 01463 220 234 earlier today, Saturday 16th September 2023, around 8:27 in the morning. The person claimed to be from Microsoft, talking about my computer account. I told them I don’t even own a computer. The voice sounded Asian, and I could hear background noises that made me think it was an Asian call centre. Since I live just about 25 minutes outside Inverness, and there’s definitely no call centre like that nearby, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. Just a heads up for anyone who gets a call from this number, don’t answer!

Got a call from some Asian guy pretending to be from Microsoft, pulling that same old scam. What’s funny is the number showed up as a proper business one, but that don’t prove anything since these scammers can fake caller IDs to show whatever they like. So yeah, the number’s been hijacked for this Microsoft scam nonsense now.
