2 yearsOn Thursday 25th July 2024, I got a call from a recorded female voice saying that there had been two unauthorised charges on my bank account - one was £300 to Amazon and the other was over £1,000 sent abroad. The message claimed I had no connection to these transactions and told me to press 1 to speak to someone who could help stop the payments. I’ve heard this kind of scam before and it’s totally fake. I worry that older people, especially pensioners, might get scared and ring the number, risking giving away their bank details.
