5 yearsA chap rang me up, introducing himself as Paul from Somepony's Home (who on earth are they, I wonder?). The whole conversation had that robotic ring to it; when I picked up, there was a pause followed by a faint beep, making me suspect it was just another one of those pesky foreign scam calls. The area code was from Glossop in Derbyshire. I promptly disconnected the call and, rather amusingly, caught the guy asking, “Are you the homeowner?” I picked the phone back up, but there was complete silence on the line-so I awkwardly greeted him again like a forgetful old dear.
