Got a call from ‘Gordon, your neighbourhood energy adviser’ a couple of days back, exact same phrase used. They ring from 01455 818342. This is the third time they’ve phoned me in just a few days.

I received one of those automated calls from so-called energy consultants. The recorded message claimed they were in my neighbourhood rolling out a savings initiative, promising to help lower my bills. It didn't take long for me to cotton on to the fact that it was a con. They’ve clearly got a whole stack of different messages prepared, tailored to whatever you respond with.

I reckon this is one of those smart voice recordings with pauses so you feel like you’re chatting with someone real. The bloke calls himself Gordon and claims to be the local energy rep for your area code. He’s buzzed me a few times, and the recording seems to switch up replies depending on what you say. Pretty sure it’s some kind of scam going on here.

The landline rings from 01455 817383 maybe once every month, but when I pick up, there's no one there. It seems like some sort of autodialer or robot, which I find pretty strange.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from an energy company, asking who our supplier was. When we flipped it and asked what company he was with, he just ended the call. Felt like some kind of scam to me.

This number has called me quite a few times, claiming to be some sort of local energy advisor. Seems odd though, since the number’s from Leicestershire and I’m nowhere near that area. I usually just ignore it and don’t bother talking to whoever’s on the line. My phone’s on the TPS list, so I doubt it’s a genuine company ringing me up.
