Absolutely, I can relate to that experience entirely. I typically avoid picking up calls from numbers I'm not familiar with. But, in a moment of weakness, I answered with a tentative "Hello?" only for the line to go dead. It makes me quite wary, as it seems like a tactic from those dodgy folk who might be trying to verify if a number is active for their own nefarious purposes. I’m starting to think that just by responding, you might actually be confirming your number is valid for them. So, from now on, I’ve decided to keep to my guns and let these calls ring out. If it's someone who knows you or if the matter is of any significance, they'll find a way to reach you, won't they?

Received a call this evening at six o’clock, and I only picked up due to the local area code. Turned out to be a woman trying to chat with my daughter regarding some accident they said she was part of from two and a half years back! What a load of nonsense! These pestilent cold callers really do take the biscuit! I gave her a proper dressing down.
