At first it was dead quiet, then they claimed to be from Ecotricity and wanted my name and address. I said no. The person calling was quite polite though. If this is genuine, using a phone number that's nowhere on their site and asking for personal info right off the bat seems like a poor approach to reaching out to customers.

It’s just Ecotricity, nothing dodgy going on. I reckon the folks calling it a scam are probably just hoping to dodge paying their bills. They do ring using this number when chasing payments, but I’ve always found them honest and respectful. I get that it might sound suspicious when they ask for your info right away, but to be fair, that’s just how businesses do their security checks nowadays - pretty much all of them do it.

At first, I was convinced this was a dodgy con, but lo and behold, it turns out it wasn’t! The caller requested my name and address before claiming that I owed a hefty amount to Ecotricity, which was utterly false. Naturally, my instincts screamed foul play, so I took the prudent step of reaching out to Ecotricity directly using one of the numbers I found on their official website. The representative on the line assured me they’d look into it. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from Ecotricity confirming that, indeed, it was their number. They explained that this line was meant for following up on unpaid bills. Apparently, I had been contacted due to a blunder in their automated dialing system. Before everything was cleared up, I was bombarded with calls - they really ought to double-check their information before they start accusing or pester their customers!

Received a couple of calls but no voicemail. I was a bit worried so I rang back. When I asked who it was and why they called, they said Ecotricity (we are customers). They said sorry for not leaving a message, then started asking for personal info. It felt dodgy so I wouldn’t give anything. Told them it didn’t seem safe, sounded like a phishing attempt from a woman, then ended the call.

I've received multiple calls from this number, and since I'm not familiar with who it is, I can’t shake the feeling it’s a bit dodgy. So, I’ve taken to answering, only to lift the receiver and rest it softly on a cushion instead of engaging. It’s quite amusing really, as I forget about it until I next need to use the phone. The last call dragged on for a ridiculous 12 hours-hopefully, that’ll dissuade them from trying again!

For me, it was Ecotricity calling, though it's possible others might be spoofing the number since that's quite simple nowadays. When I phoned their official number, they verified the call was genuine as they had a note on my account about it. I told them they really ought to review their procedures because folks shouldn't be asked for sensitive info on incoming calls unless the call has been properly authenticated first.

Yep, it’s Ecotricity alright. I saw a few missed calls from this number and then got a voicemail from an automated voice. I wasn’t sure so I rang their official customer service to make sure it was real. After a bit of back and forth, they said it was actually them. Still, I wouldn’t recommend handing over personal info just because someone calls you first.

This was from Ecotricity, i actually have an account with them. Id strongly suggest not talking to whoever calls and instead ring them back on a number you trust. I called their official line to check if they tried contacting me about my account today and they said yes, someone did. What really bugged me was the bloke on the phone sounded dodgy. Best thing to do is just hang up and dial a different, reliable number yourself.

Today, I received a rather dubious call from a chap purporting to be affiliated with an electricity provider, presenting me with an unbelievable offer. It seemed too good to be true, prompting me to do a bit of digging. After searching for his company and phone number, I discovered it's likely a scam of some sort. Quite concerning, really!

ecotricity are so annoying! i got 4 calls, 2 emails and even a letter just coz my bill was a day late. their customer service is terrible. i would have switched my supplier ages ago but im living in a rented flat.

someone called claiming they were from eco-electricity and started asking for my personal info. they pushed me to pay but wouldn’t explain what the payment was for or when the bill was due, just said they were updating their system. at first i thought they sounded genuine so i gave them my name and address, which was dumb. right after, they wanted me to pay straight away, and when i asked for more info, they just hung up. total scam, don’t make the same mistake and hand over your details.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Ecotricity telling me to urgently phone about my account. I called back and it was Ecotricity on the line, asked how they could help. Told them I just got a message to call regarding my account but I don’t actually have one with them. They asked my name and where they got my number from, said they’d check and then after a minute they just hung up on me. Pretty weird experience.

I reckon this number could belong to Ecotricity. They appear to have a habit of constantly chasing customers, no matter how trustworthy, if their payments are late by just a couple weeks. If it carries on, might be a good idea to report them to Ofgem.
