Naturally, my instincts screamed foul play, so I took the prudent step of reaching out to Ecotricity directly using one of the numbers I found on their official website. The representative on the line assured me they’d look into it. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from Ecotricity confirming that, indeed, it was their number. They explained that this line was meant for following up on unpaid bills. Apparently, I had been contacted due to a blunder in their automated dialing system. Before everything was cleared up, I was bombarded with calls - they really ought to double-check their information before they start accusing or pester their customers!

I received a call purporting to be from Ecotricity, which I happen to be a customer of. However, they insisted on obtaining my personal information before they could explain their reason for the call. Naturally, I declined to share anything. If their intentions are indeed legitimate, they really ought to consider adjusting their approach.

Ecoticity is undoubtedly the most dismal company in the UK, an absolute joke. For your own sake, steer clear of this provider at all costs!

Received a call inquiring about more of my personal information.

When I picked up the call, all I got was utter quietness on the other end.

I've received multiple calls from this number, and since I'm not familiar with who it is, I can’t shake the feeling it’s a bit dodgy. So, I’ve taken to answering, only to lift the receiver and rest it softly on a cushion instead of engaging. It’s quite amusing really, as I forget about it until I next need to use the phone. The last call dragged on for a ridiculous 12 hours—hopefully, that’ll dissuade them from trying again!

I’m not quite sure what’s going on here – this number has rung me twice today and neither time did they bother to leave a message. Quite curious, really!

I prefer to request a number that I can verify independently. I only reach out to numbers that I find listed on the official website of the company that claims to be calling me.

It appears that this particular number could potentially belong to Ecotricity. I've noticed that they have a rather aggressive approach when it comes to chasing up customers, regardless of their previous reliability, if any bills go unpaid following a two-week grace period. If this behaviour persists, it might be advisable to lodge a complaint with Ofgem.
