I received this rather alarming automated message claiming that I’m being investigated for tax evasion. Seriously? Me, of all people? It’s quite clear these scammers are not affiliated with HMRC, believe me!

I got a call from a man with an Asian accent who said my name and address right off. When I asked who was calling, he just repeated my info once more. Then, when I insisted on knowing who he was, he abruptly ended the call.

Tried getting a quote for home insurance from John Lewis but found it way too pricey. I said I wasn’t interested but they kept calling, wouldn’t accept a no for an answer. Went online for a quote, this was just a follow up, but really felt like they were just being a bit too pushy.

I got a call with an automated voice saying there’s some tax fraud involving me and if I press 1 I’ll be connected straight to the HMRC to sort it out. Sounds dodgy to me!
