It’s so annoying getting calls from numbers I don’t know, especially when they’re not wanted or expected.

Got a call from a woman with a strong foreign accent telling me I’d won a chance to be one of the final 3 in a competition for an iPhone 7. She asked what colour I’d want if I won. I don’t usually take part in any competitions, so I’m pretty sure it was just a scam.

Usually 01444 numbers come from places like Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill in the UK, but this call felt different - definitely from abroad. I could tell by the delay and the echo during the call. The woman on the line had a foreign accent, yet somehow knew my exact name. She kept switching the number that showed up on my phone too. It's obviously a total scam trying to trick people.

That echo sound dont always mean the call is from a proxy or some international provider. Ive heard from a few call centres that their setups cause that echo because they handle so many lines at once. Usually, if you call back, it just ends up connectin you to some expensive premium rate number meant to catch anyone who tries to ring back.
