9 yearsIt's shocking that my 85 year old aunt got called thrice by the same number. Absolutely disgraceful!9 yearsReceived a couple of calls from this number earlier, some bloke pretending to be from customs and excise threatening court action. Said they’d been trying to reach me for ages. Sounds dodgy to me, definitely a scam warning if you get a call like this. The whole thing was recorded, so you’re not allowed to question them or anything. Stay sharp!9 yearsSomebody rang up pretending to be from HMRC, saying they had a tax refund for me. Luckily, I didn’t fall for it, but then they said I had to cough up £375 to get that refund. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.HMRC9 yearsI got a call from this number earlier today and they were really pushy, pretending to be from the tax office, saying I owed a huge sum of money. It was definitely a scam.HM Revenue and Customs9 yearsI received an alarming phone call aimed at a relative of mine who has recently experienced the loss of their partner. The caller, purporting to be from HMRC, accused my relative of owing £2,000, threatening dire consequences if the payment wasn’t made. They warned that the police might get involved, potential court action was on the horizon, and even the risk of losing her home was presented. Understandably, my aunt was utterly upset, being pestered all day long with these harrowing threats. I decided to ring them back, and was told that someone would be dispatched to her home to collect the supposed debt. It’s worth noting that this is not how HMRC operates, so my strong advice to anyone receiving a call like this is to simply hang up and report it to your local police. We reached out to HMRC, and they confirmed they had been inundated with similar reports, advising this was indeed a scam. In a follow-up call to these fraudsters, I made it clear I'd recognised their ruse and that the police had been informed. They hung up on me in a rather rude manner. To my dismay, they then called my mobile directly, showing my own number on the screen. I cannot stress this enough: if you find yourself in a similar situation, do not engage; ignore the call and inform the authorities.HMRC9 yearsI got a call from this number, and they said they’re from the Inland Revenue’s fraud investigation team. They wanted my bank details, claiming I was due a refund. Absolute scam, don’t trust these #### scoundrels.Inland Revenue9 yearsReceived two calls in quick succession, spaced just ten minutes apart. An automated message was left urging me to ring back without delay on the same number, but there was no mention of any company or relevant details. It seemed quite dodgy, so I’ve decided to block the number.Submit Your Own Report (01444 390840)
