About 18 comments back on this thread, someone shared info on how to report scam calls. Once you've reported a suspicious number, make sure you block it too. There's loads of dodgy calls claiming to be from energy suppliers these days. Genuine companies don’t usually contact clients out of the blue these days unless it’s urgent. Every report sent to the official site gets looked at and dealt with.

Got a voicemail supposedly from EON Next about changing over my electric and gas meters. The bloke said he might call back or I could ring 01443544971. This is the third time I've had this call. I haven’t bothered calling them back.

I got a call from an unknown number, and it took ages for someone to pick up. Then, after a weird silence, I heard a robotic voice say something like, "Hello, this is EON Next regarding Smart Meters. I’ll ring you again when you’re free." It sounded fishy, so I just hung up straight away. Needless to say, that number is blocked now.

Got a call around 11 but I didn’t pick up. No voicemail or anything so I looked up the number afterwards to see who it might be.

Im so glad I have a bt digital phone, coz anytime a dodgy or scam number rings I just block it straight away on the phone, and it sends all those calls to a scam folder on my account. I never even bother looking at it cos I know what they all are. Hopefully by 2025 it stops completely!

This number rings me up a couple of times each day, but I just don’t pick up. From what I’ve figured, it’s a scam pretending to be about upgrading your gas or electric meter. I reckon “upgrade” is just a sneaky way to get people switched over to prepayment meters. That’s the conclusion I came to anyway.

I always pay my bills on time and I don’t see why someone can’t just come by now and then to check the meters like they used to. Honestly, I can’t see how stickin a box on the electric is supposed to help me at all. I’ve even blocked their number on my phone now, but they keep sendin loads of letters about these smart meters. Just stop botherin people and enjoy your profits, yeah?

We’ll give you another ring later, but if you like, you can call us on 01443544985 E.ON Next. I think it’s for the property we have with E.ON, probably about installing a smart meter.

Over the last few days, this number has kept ringing both my landline and mobile. I've put a block on them, but somehow they still got through to my landline. They even left a few messages, which I didn’t bother to listen to. Really frustrating!

There was a long silence before a lady finally spoke, greeting us and asking for someone by name. Since we didn’t reply, she told us she was a supervisor from some company - couldn’t quite catch the name. We just left the receiver off the hook because the call was unexpected. Properly annoying.
