I tried ringing them back using my pay-as-you-go phone. Some woman with an Indian accent answered, though her english was really bad and hard to follow. I told her I couldn’t understand what she was saying and she said she’d ring me back, but never did. Now I can’t get through to them anymore because they’ve blocked my number.

Just like others have mentioned, the message sounded really intimidating and was spoken by a slick American woman - something along the lines of call us back or else! I’ve received yet another unnerving message from a woman claiming to be Officer Dennis Gray representing HM Revenue and Customs. She warned that unless I call back or consult my solicitor, I should prepare for some serious legal repercussions. She ended the message with an oddly cheerful, “Have a nice day.” It's quite frustrating, to say the least, and it’s not the first time this has happened. I simply let the voicemail sit there, as I have no intention of engaging.

Got a call today from someone named Simon Mathews, sounded really intimidating. He said I was under investigation for fraud and money laundering and that I’d be arrested today. Problem was, I was about 3 hours away from home and felt really nervous and sick on the way back. I rang my accountant who said it was definitely a scam and looked up the number. These scammers really need to be stopped. I’d never share info or send money over the phone but I worry others might fall for it. Just as I’m typing, got another call saying the same thing. Just had a call from someone with an Indian accent who gave me a name and an employee ID, claiming he was from HMRC and accusing me of major tax fraud for not paying from 2012 to 2016, threatening court action. I challenged him and asked for something in writing, and he said he’d look into my file and get back in an hour. Luckily I had the sense to check this site first as it felt off, and I’ve blocked the number now!

Got two calls in under two hours from 01442 780682. Left a voicemail from someone called Dennis Gray? If this is HMRC, get in touch straight away or I’m gonna consider legal action. I’ve blocked the number now. Honestly, it really unsettled me - can’t even think what it’d be like for older folks or those more at risk. Some people really have no shame these days.

This number’s a total scam, no doubt. I rang them back a couple times just for kicks and as soon as I started asking questions, they’d just cut me off straight away.

This is the second time this week I’ve got a call like this. Just like all the previous ones, really.

Got a call this morning, left a voicemail sayin it was urgent, some solicitor or sumthin. (Didn’t bother returnin it) Then they rang me again with a recorded message. Looked up the number here, so I gave them a bell. “What you want?” they said. I told ‘em they rang me and I needed to call back quick cos it was important. They said it was HMRC, asked what I wanted. I shouted back, told ‘em to F£$@ off, you scammers!!! Then they just hung up on me. Tried callin again but no answer! What a joke.

Got loads of calls from some robo message saying it was from HMRC. There's no way they'd actually do that, so I didn’t bother calling back as it might’ve been some dodgy number from God knows where!

Got a robo call from someone called Denise Grey, pretending to be from HMRC. They warned that me or my lawyer needed to ring a number or else face the fallout. I couldn’t note down the phone number as I didn’t have anything to write with. Total nasty scam, felt really threatening. HMRC usually get in touch with me via email saying there’s a secure message waiting in my online account.

This one was pretty scary, a guy calling himself Christopher Casey, said he was American or something. He kept asking for my lawyer's number which felt seriously threatening. Honestly, this kind of behaviour should be against the law. Why would someone do such an awful thing? I just don’t get what they hope to get out of it.

I’m really relieved I looked this up first because it’s definitely a scam! At first, it sounded pretty scary, but then I thought, why would Anthony Clark’s name be spoken by a robotic woman? Total frauds, no doubt.
