Got a call from someone claiming to be 02, saying I could get 30% off my monthly bills. The moment I asked them to email me the offer from an official 02 email so I could check it was real, their attitude completely changed. They then said they’d send a text I could verify instead. Honestly, DO NOT TRUST THIS NUMBER! It’s definitely a scam. Just hang up and block straight away.

Got a call from someone named “Catherine Dell” claiming she was from BT, said my IP address might have been exposed. Thing is, I don't even have BT broadband. She also mentioned BT runs the main server in London for Sky, Virgin and a few others. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

I've had quite the experience recently. The call I received was marked as Private, which raised a few eyebrows. They inquired if I ever used Google, to which I naturally replied, "Of course, who doesn't?" Then the next question was whether I owned a mobile phone, and once again, I confirmed that I do. When they started giving me instructions, I felt a bit cagey and wanted to know their motives. Call me suspicious, but it had all the hallmarks of a potential scam, though I can't say for certain. I mentioned that I wasn't keen on their guidance since my tech whiz usually handles all that stuff for me. After a bit of back-and-forth, they decided to escalate the matter to a supposed manager, but I remained hesitant. Out of nowhere, they abruptly dropped the call without any reasoning. Quite strange, if you ask me!

I received a phone call from a woman who had an accent reminiscent of Indian dialects, and she was speaking quite deliberately. She asserted that she was contacting me on behalf of BT Openreach regarding issues with our internet service. Naturally, I found that rather peculiar since we don’t actually use BT for our broadband at all. She went on to elaborate that BT Openreach was a prominent provider of broadband services, which struck me as quite dubious. So, I inquired about how much she was attempting to con me out of, and just like that, the line went dead.

This number rang me at 1:22 in the afternoon, but there was nothing on the other end - just silence. Then I heard that typical clicking noise when someone answers. I waited a couple of seconds for them to speak, but no luck, so I just ended the call. After reading other people's stories about calls from this number, I’m relieved I didn’t engage with them. I’d say they seem quite suspicious.

Spoke with a really polite Indian woman saying I’m owed cash from a home products policy. She’d called me before. The first call was right after I’d cancelled a policy, so I answered a few questions until she asked for my bank info, which I told her she should already have if I had a policy. She got a bit annoyed and I ended the call. After that, I ignored a bunch more calls. No calls for a while, then today she rings again. Definitely sounds like a scam.

Got a call on my landline from this number, some bloke claimed Homecare was gonna refund me £119 for a washing machine. He wanted my bank details to transfer the cash, but I didn’t give them. Never bought a washing machine and I’ve no clue who Homecare even is.

Got a call from an Asian bloke who called himself Peter, saying they’d mistakenly billed me £119 for a washing machine warranty. Weirdly, he already had my name and address! Tried asking for my bank info to give me a refund. I told him to just send a cheque instead. I said I don’t deal with cold callers, so put it in writing and post it. Then, he just cut the call. Really worried someone’s passed on my details because I’m supposed to be ex-directory.

Some bloke rang saying I was owed £119 back on my washing machine Homecare plan. He asked for my bank info - yeah right, like I’d just hand that over. I asked where they were based and said I’d pop round with my card. He told me Central London. So I told him I’d send a mate from the Scotland Yard Fraud Squad to sort it, since I’m with West Midlands Police. He suddenly hung up. NEVER give out your sort code and account number - it’s a total scam!

I've received a call from 01439 339269, claiming to be from BT Openreach. They had the audacity to request that I search online to confirm if my internet connection was public. Then, they wanted my IP address to allegedly launch an attack on my computer. I ended the conversation immediately. Please, whatever you do, do not share your IP address with anyone!

Somebody rang claiming to be from BT, saying our internet router was being hacked and that others were using our connection. When I told him I thought it was a scam and that I’d hang up, he got quite upset. He went on about how if I ended the call, we’d be offline for 48 days and would have to pay to get it back on. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Let her chat for a while before she handed me over to a so-called "senior technician," who was clearly another scammer right there with her. He actually got annoyed at me for "wasting his time," when they were the ones who called me! In the end, I just said I’d have a local expert check it out and hung up. Total SCAMMERS. Initially, he had a proper British accent, but as our chat went on, it seemed to morph into something more Eastern European. A refund of £119! I recommended that they send it off to a charity instead. Isn’t it amusing that every single one of us receives the identical sum back, despite the fact that our washing machines are all different?
