Someone called saying they were from Sky and told me my viewing card was about to run out in a week. They said they'd send a new one to my billing address, but they got the address totally wrong. I told them straight up they weren’t from Sky, cos how could they not know my right address? Then I just ended the call, it was obviously a scam.

I received a call earlier today alleging that my SKY TV card was set to expire in just a week and that a replacement would be dispatched within three days. They proceeded to provide me with an activation code to use once the new card arrived. Then, they requested that I confirm my identity by disclosing my date of birth. I found this rather suspicious and immediately became cautious about divulging personal information to what felt like a cold caller. They provided a return number of 0870 183 4901, which I have absolutely no intention of calling back. Just for reference, BT's 1471 identified the number... (Tuesday, 19th September 2017).

Sounds too good to be true? Well, it is. They claimed it would stop all nuisance calls, but I’m not daft. They wanted me to pay a one-off fee, but kept dodging when I asked how much. Eventually, after being passed to their ‘manager’ who just repeated the same line, they finally said it’s £29.99. Yeah, alright. Don’t fall for this scam, it’s just another con.

Got a ring from a bloke named Eugene Barfoot - Sausages. He was trying to pitch some business idea, something about dunking oranges into a big muddy pit. Sounded a bit odd, and as I’m no expert in fruit-submersion techniques, I decided to pass after thinking it over. Eugene’s a decent guy though, only wears specs on Mondays and apparently owns a pet pug named Fisty the Mutant. Said his go-to curry is a Lamb Balti washed down with some red cement-flavoured water, whatever that means!

Got a call today from a foreign woman claiming to be from Hotpoint about my washing machine (which I might have, not sure). She had my postcode and asked if the machine was under 8 years old. I wasn’t sure, and then she started getting a bit pushy. I told her to just tell me what she wanted, then suddenly she asked if I was younger than 87, and then she hung up. Strange!

They claimed to be from a tech company checking on computers, so I humoured them for a bit. But as soon as they realised I wasn't interested, he turned into a complete nightmare. This isn’t some harmless marketing firm, it’s definitely a scam, and the people behind the calls are really rude.
