Got a call from an unknown number and didn’t recognise it, so I rang back just in case it was somthing important. When I called, they offered a choice to remove me from their call list, so I gave them my name and phone number. Since then, no calls from them which is a relief. Could’ve been a sneaky trick to share my details with other firms, but so far no hassle, so I’ll take that as a positive!

A bloke called me up, spoke with a thick Asian accent. He clearly already had my name and where I live, but I wouldn't say anything back to him. I made it clear I don’t share info with random callers. He said he wouldn’t need any personal stuff, so I just listened for a bit. Then, right off the bat, he asked me to confirm my name and address. That’s when I hung up straight away.

Has anyone picked up when this number rings? I noticed a couple of missed calls from it, thinking it might be one of those automated call centre things checking if I'm reachable. I never pick up if I don't know the number, and they didn’t leave any voicemail. I tried searching online to find out what's what, but found nothing useful. Wouldn’t call back without knowing who it is. Anyone got a clue?

I reckon with Esure car insurance, they ring you mainly if your policy is coming up for renewal or if you've used comparison websites and agreed to a callback from leading insurers. So if people moan about getting loads of calls, maybe they shouldn’t have ticked the box online in the first place. If you just pick up and tell them you’re already sorted, they usually won’t bother again. No need to fib and then slag them off when you don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes.
