I got a call asking if I had any issues like mould or cracks in my home, something about housing problems. When I asked who they actually were, they just hung up on me. Totally sounded like some kind of robot. Blocked the number straight away!

Got a call from someone who seemed to be overseas, saying they were from an ‘EE deal’ and asking if I use Apple or Samsung. I just politely ended the call.

Hello there! We've been getting quite a few calls from this company, and it seems like the folks behind it are rather pushy.

I received a call from this number earlier, and when we asked who was calling, they insisted they were from the London Mint Office. However, the person they were looking for isn't available at the moment. Quite a strange encounter, if you ask me... :S

It appears to us that this number is indeed linked to Laithwaites. We've got a call screening device (a Truecall Unit), and these callers seemed quite put out when we zapped their previous number, 01425 462798! Shortly after, we noted this new number, 01425 462790, popping up on our call log. It seems Laithwaites isn't keen on accepting a simple "no," even when it comes from an automated system! Quite the determination, isn't it?

I received an unsolicited email from "PRS for Music" (previously known as the Performing Rights Society), and shortly afterwards, my phone rang with the above number. The caller, who introduced himself as Shane Ward, claimed to be an "outbound agent" representing the organisation. Quite the coincidence, I must say!

Hello there! I've purchased quite a few rings from this company, and I must say, their manner can be quite forceful at times.

PRS (Performing Rights Society) for Music. As a small business owner, I've found that playing music in my establishment can sometimes lead to unintentional copyright breaches. It's quite a minefield, really!

I wonder if this number belongs to the London Mint Office? I received a call from it, and I'm currently in the process of purchasing a coin from them.

We reckon this number genuinely belongs to Laithwaites. We've got a screening app (Truecall group) that’s flagging this up, and the callers are rather affronted that we’ve blocked their line, opting for another one - 01425462798! Just mere moments after our logs kicked in, this new line 01425 462790 buzzed through. It feels like Laithwaites just can’t take “no” for an answer, even when it’s clear we’re not interested, and they've started ringing us about a car!

Oh, just to add, we've let them know that our associate has opted to stop playing music altogether. We've been reassured that the phone calls will come to an end now. I suppose time will tell, won't it?

I’ve had a fair few missed calls from this number, and my rule is to ignore any calls from unfamiliar digits. Curiosity got the better of me one night, and I decided to ring them back to see what all the fuss was about since they’d tried contacting me so many times. To my surprise, a recorded message greeted me, saying, "Welcome to PRS for Music, please call back later as we are currently closed." Absolutely not, mate! I’ve never even heard of this organisation before. It begs the question, how on earth did they obtain my number in the first place?

Received a call at home from this number, but it cut out as soon as our answering machine kicked in. Shortly after, my mobile buzzed with the same number, but we didn’t pick up and they didn’t leave a voicemail. When we called back to find out who it was, they claimed to be PRS for Music, yet they insisted they had no record of us in their database. We’re starting to suspect this might be a scam.

On the morning of 30th July, I got a really pushy call from this number accusing me of playing music in public, which I definitely wasn’t doing. I told them so, but they just wouldn't believe me. Eventually, I managed to end the call. Later that evening, I discovered all my £23 mobile credit had vanished because of a call back to the same number - but I never made that call! My phone was just sitting on the table next to me, and no one else could have touched it. I’m not sure how this happened, but it feels like a serious warning. I’ve contacted O2, but they say I’m responsible for the charge as they show the call going through from my phone. I’m going to look into this more and would be interested if anyone else has had a similar experience.

It appears we’ve been on the receiving end of some rather disturbing calls from this number. Honestly, the PRS really seems to be missing the mark here. I operate from home, and to be frank, I don’t entertain any clients or customers at all. Moreover, the PRS website clearly states that a licence isn’t necessary. Upon looking into the PRS records, the number in question doesn’t even match what’s posted on their site. The genuine number, if I’m not mistaken, was a London-based one!

In a similar vein, it seems PRS for Music was trying to let us know that we have to cough up some cash when we play tunes for our team.

Got three calls off this number today, at 08:52, then again at 13:47, and once more at 15:31. Seems a bit dodgy to me, especially after reading that it's linked to Ringwood and might be some kind of scam. I definitely have no connection to anything like PRS, so I'm not sure why they're bothering me.

Just got a ring from this number. I’m involved in the music industry and know a fair bit about the PRS - I generally back what they do. Thing is, this bloke was faking being from the PRS. Asked him a few questions I knew the answers to, and the stuff he came out with was total nonsense.

Got a call from someone called Jason Mattocks who said he was with PRS - sounded like he was pretending to be the actual organisation, not just some agent. He told me to ring 0800 6947320, but the call actually came from the number I’m now reporting. I checked, and he's nothing to do with PRS for Music, who can be reached on 0207 3064067.

If you run a small business and play music, even accidentally, you might get into trouble with the Performing Rights Society (PRS) for copyright issues. It's something to watch out for if you have tunes playing in your shop or cafe.
