I received a call from an Asian gentleman claiming to represent Curry’s, trying to peddle a supposed free iPhone. It feels like a classic scam attempt!

The number in question has been successfully barred.

I had a rather dodgy experience with a woman on the phone who had an Asian accent. She was going on about some supposedly amazing mobile deal or other. The call quality was dreadful, honestly - it felt like they were talking from a tin can! I reckon it’s just some spam or a scam artist trying their luck. They abruptly ended the call when I probed about the name of the company. Quite sketchy, if you ask me!

Beware of con artists hailing from India attempting to swindle you out of your banking information with some fictitious iPhone offer. Don’t be taken in by their ruse!

Had no idea who was calling and didn’t pick up. My phone identified the caller as "TELEMEETER".

I received two calls in quick succession today, both purporting to be from Carphone Warehouse, offering some supposed special deal on iPhones or Samsung devices. I find this quite dubious, as Carphone Warehouse has never really been known for reaching out to people with sales pitches. If memory serves, they only made those kinds of calls to existing customers who were just about to see their contracts expire-not out of the blue to someone who's not even a customer. And as another user pointed out, Curry's definitely wouldn't stoop to tele-sales either. I can't definitively say this is a scam, but the whole thing feels dodgy enough that I'd advise treating it as such. Do not divulge any of your personal information-not even your name. Under no circumstances should you allow them access to your device. If they claim to represent a particular company, hold off on engaging with them further until you've had a chance to verify their information by contacting the company directly. Always use the contact details listed on the official website. Most reputable businesses have moved away from making unsolicited sales calls these days. It's best to exercise extreme caution whenever you get such calls and double-check everything before agreeing to anything or sharing any information. If you’re uncertain at all, your best bet is to simply say you're not interested and hang up. Should they ring you again, don’t hesitate to block the number. It’s far better to err on the side of caution!

I didn’t answer the call, as I don’t recognise anyone from Ringwood. There seem to be quite a few mentions about this number today, which suggests there’s a scammer on the prowl.

Received a call that warned of possible fraudulent activity. I'm situated in Lancashire.

I received a call purporting to be from Virgin Media, so I decided to end the conversation promptly.

I received a call from an Indian gentleman who was inquiring about my phone contract, probing for details about the make and model of my device. He even requested my bank details, which struck me as suspicious. I've promptly blocked the number.
