A lady called me up to enquire about pensions. She wanted to know if I was contributing to a private pension scheme or if I had any pension funds from past jobs that might be sitting idle. When I said I wasn't involved with either, she promptly hung up.

He was quite smooth, chatting about how he could help me make the most of my pension. I asked if he was legit, and he gave me a reference number to look up on the Financial Conduct Authority website. It did come up as Parkin Beacher, though he seemed a bit unsure when saying the name. But when I checked further, the FCA site mentioned they’re no longer registered as an appointed representative and can't do regulated business anymore.

A lady with a clear British accent rang me on my mobile but never mentioned the company she was with. She kept asking me about my pension. When I asked her outright why she was calling, she just repeated her question, seeming to want more details. When I pressed again for her purpose, she just ended the call. I dialled the number back and found out it’s from a company called UK Pension Options. I tried to complain, but when I hit three to speak to customer support, the phone just kept ringing with no answer. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

Got a pension cold caller on the phone the other day and I just kept them chatting for about 17 minutes before they twigged i was only messing about. Honestly, just keep them talking as long as possible, act like you actually care and then end the call once you’ve wasted enough of their time. My longest was 58 minutes!

Got a call today from what sounded like the Taliban Hiring dept, temporary job going. They said you gotta have your own AK47 and RPG, and if you know guerrilla tactics that’s a plus but they’ll teach the rest. They also mentioned they’d prefer applicants who can fly planes, need to be able to drive, and have some basic knowledge about electrics. Weirdest job ad I’ve ever heard!
