Got calls twice on my work phone outside office hours, once at 18:31 and again at 20:38 on 19 Dec. Didn’t recognise the number so I ignored it and looked it up on Wotcha to see if it was linked to any scam reports. A very polite guy, who said his name was Adil, called and asked if he could speak to me by my name. He said he was doing a phone survey about NSNI (National Savings) and wanted my opinion. I told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call, but it felt a bit weird since he already knew my name and my home number.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Team Search, doing some kind of survey about my local MP for the government. When I asked where they got my number from, they said it came from their client, which I assume meant “the government”. I told them we’re on the TPS, then suddenly the call just cut off and they hung up. Looked up the number later and it seems to be linked to a company called Team Search in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The bloke said his name was Tawqir and he was from Teamsearch doing some market research - I wasn’t convinced. I’ve never given my details for research knowingly. I received a call this afternoon from what turned out to be a scam pretending to be Amazon. If you're caught in the same scenario, just mention your NHS number and tell them to update your records. It's clear they're trying to pull a fast one, and they're not shy about it either-no space for you to challenge their identity or motives. Having worked at BT in the past, it's quite evident that these calls are a source of revenue for them. They could easily put an end to it with just the flick of a switch, but they choose not to do so. So, do yourself a favour and just hang up. They've essentially paid to bother you.

It might actually be a legit market research firm calling, so the TPS rules might not cover them. But you’ve gotta watch out because scammers often fake the numbers of real survey companies to trick people and collect info they then pass on to other scammers. Honestly, there's no way to be sure if it’s a real survey or just some con. I usually just say no thank you nicely and give a quick reason why.
