Turns out they’re actually a firm that installs doors and windows, but they mask it. Their real goal is to push their products hard, telling you stuff like “your windows don’t save enough energy” to make you buy new ones.

This number has been ringing me a few times over the last four months. They kept trying to set up a "free" energy check at my house. Odd thing is, they seemed to already know who owns the place and had the exact address. They asked if I wanted them to come by the next day since they were nearby. I said no, again!

My elderly mum got a call from these people and they somehow convinced her to let them come round and have a look at her house. Then they pushed her to pay £620 before 3pm on the very same day. The documents they left behind didn’t mention British Gas anywhere and the survey was so vague it was no use to anyone. Honestly, this feels like a proper dodgy scam to me.

I came across Plaxway Ltd on an episode of Watchdog Rogue Traders from 2018. They use the same old tricks and dishonest talk to con vulnerable older people out of their cash. These lot have no proper qualifications to carry out an energy efficiency check, and they definitely can't secure any grants from the main energy providers for you. No honest firm would ever promise you a 50% discount just for signing up immediately - that "deal" vanishes by the next day anyway. If you want trustworthy advice about energy savings and grants, it's best to check out the Energy Saving Trust.

I got two calls, one was a guy and the other a lady, both saying they were from "PLAXWAY" offering some sort of energy assessment. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

After all the lockdowns, you'd think people would be eager to let strangers who've been inside who knows how many other homes wander around theirs? I told them this week wasn’t a good time, hung up, and blocked the number straight away. Feels like a dodgy scam if you ask me.

Got a missed call from 01224524127 on my landline but I didn’t pick up. It baffles me that the address linked to this number isn’t shown anywhere. With all the scams and fraud going on nowadays, it feels like people should be able to check the name and address without any trouble. If there’s nothing dodgy going on, there shouldn’t be an issue with that info being out there. The law really needs an update so dodgy callers can’t hide behind secrecy like this.

This bloke rang me saying he’s from an energy firm, said they’d be nearby tomorrow. Told him I wasn’t interested right away. He claimed to represent the big six energy suppliers. I told him again I wasn’t interested, as they keep calling me non-stop! Then he had the nerve to ask me to explain their service, seriously cheeky! Told him I wouldn’t be talking to them either way. And if you’re reading this, mate, I’m definitely on the TPS - it’s not just about sales, it covers marketing calls too, so check your facts before you bother me again, daft!

Got a call from someone called Caroline from Clear Eco Systems, claiming they're offering a national energy check for homes under some "winter warmer" scheme linked to the big six energy firms. She told me I should've got a winter warmer info pack by now, but I never did. It sounded quite convincing at first, but I don't trust cold callers enough to commit to anything. After digging a bit, I couldn't find any real evidence of this winter warmer scheme existing. Plus, a quick search on Clear Eco Systems just led me to loads of complaints and nothing concrete. Seems dodgy to me.
