I noticed I had a missed call from this number. I gave them a ring back, but no one was on the other end. How frustrating!

These individuals are quite the nuisance! We're just looking for a place to raise our grievances regarding this number. They seem to call us around 10 to 15 times daily, and it's absolutely maddening!

A bloke phoned us claiming he was from a consumer advisory service, saying we could reclaim some cash. The background was quite chaotic, so it seemed like he was in a call centre or something similar.

We're getting incessant calls from these individuals, and honestly, they're quite the bother. We would really like to find out just who they are.

Received an unwelcome call from this number back on the 7th of February, 2013, at around half past five. I chose to ignore it since the number was from a completely unfamiliar area of the UK, one that holds no relevance or interest to me whatsoever.

Received a call from this number earlier today. They seemed to know my name and claimed I was entitled to a refund, although I'm quite certain there's no refund due to me. It's rather frustrating, and I'm curious about who’s behind selling my details to these annoying callers. I'm inclined to think it might be a catalogue company that insists on gathering phone numbers “for support”. They've got my email address, so what’s the point of the phone number?

Got a ring from a landline, 01616695797, and the person on the other end knew my full name. They said I’d been overpaid and that I owed money to one of six different banks. When I tried to get her details, like her name and who she worked for, all she gave me was another number, 01422387713. Felt like a total scam and just pure lies. Would really love to see these scammers get fined or put in trouble for this sorta thing.

I've had my fair share of these infuriating calls too! They ring, and just as I pick up, they hang up. It's so frustrating. Just the other day, I received a call from a similar number: 01422387710. It really gets on my nerves!

We've been getting calls from this company repeatedly, and it's quite baffling. We haven't got a clue who they are, but they seem to enjoy contacting us on our mobiles just as we’re settling into our shifts at work. It's becoming quite the nuisance!

If you're fortunate enough to enjoy complimentary calls (like BT's free evenings and weekends), return the call using 141 beforehand and implore them to consult the TPS website before getting in touch with anyone. Should they ask for your postcode, firmly decline to provide it. Likewise, withhold your phone number and any other personal details. Just repeatedly emphasise that they must check the TPS website prior to dialling any number. If they attempt to interrupt you, don’t hesitate to firmly say, "Please, let me finish. Listen to what I'm saying," until they cease the chatter. Then reiterate your demand for them to review the TPS website before initiating any calls. If they try to argue that it doesn’t pertain to them because they represent a marketing firm, turn a deaf ear. Keep stressing the necessity of consulting the TPS, reminding them that individuals like us register for TPS precisely to avoid these unsolicited calls. If enough individuals adopt this strategy, perhaps these callers will finally become as weary of the situation as we are, prompting them to heed the TPS regulations that are meant to protect us. As an alternative, consider the following script. I would recommend reading it in full, resolutely ignoring any interjections, before you hang up. If they manage to hang up before you’ve finished, simply give them a ring back and repeat your statement until you either complete it or feel your patience waning. Remember to prefix your call with 141 each and every time. And here’s your script: --- Good day to you. I’m speaking on behalf of the British public to highlight an organisation designed to assist you in enhancing your business practices and vastly improving your company's public standing. This organisation is the Telephone Preference Service, commonly referred to as TPS, and you can easily find it online by searching for their name. Legally, telemarketers are prohibited from calling numbers subscribed to TPS, yet it appears this rule is frequently overlooked by your firm. You may think that this legislation doesn’t hold any weight with you, but I’m here to clarify that it indeed does apply. Should you persist in ignoring it, your company could face legal action and potentially hefty fines. Even if there were any grounds for believing this law doesn’t pertain to you, it’s vital to acknowledge that individuals who have registered with TPS clearly do not wish to receive unsolicited calls. Hence, for the sake of your company’s reputation, it would be wise to respect their preferences. If you’re unable to relay this advice yourself, I strongly urge you to pass my message along to your superiors immediately, so they can take corrective measures and prevent further repercussions. Thank you for your time.

Received half a dozen calls from this number on our landline. When I returned the call, a voice on the other end introduced themselves as "Consumer helpline. How can we assist you?" I'm a bit baffled about why I keep getting calls from them.

Had a call from this number today and it was clear they were trying to scam me. The person couldn’t answer any proper questions, just stuck to their script like a robot. What I like to do in these situations is keep them chatting for ages - my longest is nearly 25 minutes! Never give them any real info, just bluff back like they do. It’s quite funny if you’re up for it, and you don’t lose anything at all. Also, if you've got their number, call them back sometime you choose, block your own number, and let them see how it feels getting annoying calls when they don’t want them!

Hey there! I just received a call from this number, some so-called consumer advice outfit. They started quizzing me about a financial agreement I supposedly had before 2009. I told them I never had any finance, and they immediately hung up. I really can't stand these callers and the scumbags who sell phone numbers to them. If you want to annoy them back, try entering their number as a contact when filling out dodgy online forms on sketchy sites. Pretty soon, they'll get a taste of the annoying calls we get. I like to use cheeky fake names to stir the pot a bit.

Just like someone else mentioned here, I never pick up calls from unknown numbers. I tend to look them up online first - turns out this one was suspicious. Also, I've set my home phone to ignore calls that come through as private, though it still shows me the missed calls, which is really handy. Ever since I did that, the amount of annoying calls has dropped loads. Before, I kept getting calls with no caller ID from a couple of annoying telemarketers. Now, since I don't even bother answering, those anonymous calls have dropped off big time. Seems like ignoring them is the best defence. Oh, and I'm definitely signed up with the TPS too.

Got a call from this number earlier, the lady claimed she was from the conser direct and mentioned I might be due a rebate for mis-sold PPI claims. I told her it was unlikely since I never had any PPI at all. She insisted it could’ve been arranged without me knowing. Then she asked if I had ever taken out any loans before. I told her she should already have that info if she’s trying to get me to claim money back, but she said she only had a list from a bank. When I asked which bank, she said that detail wasn’t provided. Then she wanted to go through my personal info to “verify” who I was. I pointed out she called me, so she should already know. Honestly, this seemed like a scam to collect personal details to sell on. Definitely not a genuine call!

I got a couple of calls from this number. First, they mentioned something about my "mobile phone contract," and then they rang again about an "overpayment." When I said I wasn’t comfortable giving my new address without knowing more about the purpose of the call, they just ended the call. Seems pretty shady to me.

Got a call from this number claiming I’d paid too much on some finance I don’t even have. They wanted me to verify my address and date of birth to sort out the refund. When I refused to share personal info on the phone, they just cut off. I tried calling back, they picked up, but I ended the call straight away. For anyone dealing with nonstop calls like this, maybe try answering with a loud sports whistle - bet they won’t appreciate that! Or give them a ring at 3 in the morning and tell them to shush, since they’re likely scammers or people working from home.

Today I got a call on my landline from this number, and just so you know, I’m on the TPS list. Not wanting to be caught out, I didn’t pick up but did the usual right away - typed the number into Google. Loads of sites came up with people having run-ins with it! So yeah, my gut was spot on which is a relief but still annoying. They only rang the once though, and I’ve blocked the number now (if your phone lets you block numbers, seriously do it - it’s saved me loads; never had a repeat call from the same number since). Make yourself a bit invisible and you won’t be bombarded with calls asking the same questions like others have mentioned. Honestly, don’t let this stuff get to you. Also, sign up for the TPS - mobile too! Since I did, no scammy texts or dodgy calls on my phone, and the landline barely gets a ring in half a year. Days like today still grind my gears, but I’ve been reporting the number everywhere I can. So whoever’s behind this, take that!

I got a call on my mobile, and when I picked up, they seemed to know my first name, but that was about it. They kept trying to get more info from me without saying much themselves, just hoping I’d spill more details. They claimed it was about some finance agreement and cash supposedly owed to me, but never said which kind of contract or which firm it was with. Their main goal was to "confirm my address before sorting out my claim." I refused to give anything and quickly ended the call.

So, apparently the police caught a bunch of people connected to this number for stealing identities. They’re linked to Reactiv Media over at The Warehouse on Gas Works Lane in Elland, West Yorkshire. I got calls where no one said a word at all, and other times they tried to get me to give up personal stuff, mostly bank details. The worst part was, they’d ring me pretty much every day.

This number rang me earlier, but since I didn't know who it was, I just let it ring out. It went to voicemail, but there wasn’t any message left. I never pick up on unknown numbers - if it’s important, they’ll leave a message, if not, it’s probably just some telemarketer or spam.

This number keeps ringing me up constantly, always looking for someone called Daniel Evans. I've told them a bunch of times that we've no clue who that is and that this isn’t his number, but they still call like 20 times a day. It’s getting really tiring!

Got a ring from this number today but couldn't answer cos my phone was charging. They never left a voicemail but the number stuck in my head. Since we used to live close to the area the dialling code's from, I decided to give it a go and called back. A young lad answered, saying he was from some Consumer something-or-other... couldn't catch it all properly since he kept his hand near the mic. He mentioned being from Low Fields Industrial Estate in Elland - somewhere my hubby knows well. That seemed to confuse him a bit, ‘cause hubby brought up a few companies he'd heard of there. The bloke was pretty vague, acting like he might know what they're about, but when hubby asked about one specific place, he blanked completely. That’s when the alarm bells started ringing for me, and here I am trying to figure this out! After reading through all the comments here, I’m relieved we managed to trip him up - who knows what could've happened otherwise!

Got two calls from this number this morning. First one was a bloke trying to pitch some mobile pay-as-you-go deal with no credit checks - sounded fishy to me! Then I got a woman on the line asking tons of questions about my finances, like trying to suss out if I had any debts or loans, saying I could claim PPI back. She kept going on about moving me to someone else to finish the paperwork and told me to hang on, saying it might take a minute or two. I reckon it’s one of those scams where they keep you on hold and hit you with a premium rate charge. Didn’t even last a minute, just hung up. Watch out for this one!

This number has been ringing my phone nearly every day for the last few months. Just like others have said, if I don't pick up, it hangs up right before my voicemail can pick up, and when I do answer, no one’s on the line. It’s really annoying now and I’m desperate to find out who or what is calling me so persistently!

Quick update to my previous message - I found a call blocking app for my Android that had loads of good feedback. I've put the number on its blacklist now, so it should stop calls, texts and pictures from coming through. Fingers crossed this does the trick!!

Every day, this number rings me up at least once. The moment I pick up, they just hang up. If I leave it, they cut off the call just before my answerphone kicks in. I use TPF, so how are they managing this?

this number keeps ringing my work phone and then just cuts off, which is really annoying. i’ve added it to my contacts and labelled it as IGNORE, so now whenever it calls, i just block it straight away.

Got a call on 09/08/13 at about 12:36, picked up and they just cut off without saying anything. I usually let my answerphone pick up first to see who’s calling, but somehow I was right by the phone this time.

My mum is quite hard of hearing and when they called her, she asked me to take the phone. As soon as I answered, they just ended the call straight away. It's really frustrating, especially since we've signed up to the TPS.

Does anyone know how to get these annoying calls to my landline to stop? Seriously, how do you actually block them?!

Got a call saying I’d overpaid and they needed to check my details. When I asked who made the overpayment, they said they couldn’t say unless I confirmed my info first. I told them I wouldn’t give any details without knowing what it was about. The woman just replied, “Alright, thanks, bye.” I’ve been getting calls from them almost every day for the last week now.

This number has been calling me every day for over a week now. I never pick up and just let it keep ringing. So far, no voicemail or anything left on my phone.

I’m getting really fed up with these constant phone calls, it feels like harassment at this point. Surely there’s something that could be done to put an end to this annoying invasion.

Got a call earlier from someone claiming they were from a consumer helpline. They kept asking loads of questions, trying to get personal details. I'd say, best not to share anything with them.

Got a missed call from this number earlier. I rang back but there was no proper hello, just a woman on the other end, so I ended the call straight away. I deal with phones for work, so I can tell when greetings are off. No way I’m bothering with them again.

Does the government even care to act on this? I swear somedays I’m close to just ditching my landline because the calls never stop, even though I signed up with the TPS ages ago, twice in fact. I actually called one of those numbers back and begged them to quit ringing me. The woman on the line promised she’d tell them to stop, but I’m not holding my breath. The caller ID showed “Consumer help line” or something like that - sounds dodgy to me. Probably another PPI scam.

I've had calls from this number every day for the past three days. Seriously, what’s the point? I’m not picking up and don't want anything to do with these annoying calls. Just stop already, please! It’s getting on my nerves.

Loads of calls from this number in the past few days, but since I never picked up and they didn’t bother leaving a voicemail, I’m just gonna keep blocking it!

These calls keep coming nonstop because the numbers are just made up by computers. Honestly, the Government really needs to take action and put a stop to this rubbish right now.

Over the last couple of days, this number has rang me half a dozen times, but I never picked up. A few weeks ago I did answer on my work phone and told them I wasn’t interested, yet they keep phoning regardless. Definitely don’t ring them back because I reckon that’s exactly what they’re hoping for. Honestly, they really ought to be blocked or something, it’s proper annoying.

I've had a few calls from this number already, about 3 times, and both times I picked up, they just dropped the call straight away after I said hello. Pretty strange really.

I got a call earlier saying they were there to help me get back PPI. They asked me for my full name, address, date of birth, main phone number, and email. They mentioned there might be a claim related to an old Black Horse Loan I had. Suddenly, the line just went dead... When I called back, it said the office was closed. But the hours given didn’t line up with the actual opening times!

Today my mum got a ring from this number. They had a quick chat but she wasn't really clear what it was about before the call ended suddenly. I tried calling it back a bit ago and it said it was some firm named Discover Finance. The weird thing is, they say their office is closed already, even though the automated message keeps saying they're open late tonight. Pretty obvious it’s a scam, no doubt about it!

I just got a call from some debt collectors named Mckenzie Hall. They’re after money for TalkTalk, which I’ve never used and have no connection with whatsoever. Totally frustrating since I don’t owe them a penny!

Someone rang claiming to be from a PPI compensation firm. I ended up giving them my date of birth and address, and mentioned a car loan I once took out on HPI. Now I'm feeling uneasy about sharing that kind of info. They wanted me to stay on the line so they could connect me to another person, but I didn’t want to give my email, so I ended the call when they said they’d transfer me. Shortly after, I got a call from 08445766235, which I decided to ignore.

Got a call just now from this number, and strangely, they knew loads about me, like my old address and stuff. But I’m pretty sure I never had any PPI on my car or anything to do with the new loan company either. Quite odd, really.

I picked up this number and it was one of those automated messages telling me I'd be connected to an operator shortly! I didn’t wait around and just ended the call. Pro tip: if you get calls like this again, save the number as "hang up immediately" or something along those lines. You get what I mean!

I got a call on my mobile from 01422387713, and then about three hours later, 01616626515 gave me a ring. Both were totally unsolicited. I’d say don’t pick up and definitely don’t bother calling back!

This number has been ringing me a lot, like a couple times a day, and I’ve just been ignoring it. Then I got calls from 01616626515 after that. Luckily, I didn’t pick up either, which was probably a good idea. It’s really annoying though, glad I looked it up on the internet before answering.

There was loads of noise, like they were at a big party or something. The caller asked if I’d ever taken out a loan or used Mail Order Co over the past twelve years. I told them I’m seventy-eight and don’t mess around with that stuff now. They just hung up straight away. I usually try to be courteous with these calls, but since they don’t seem to get what politeness means, I’m not wasting my time with them anymore.
