Got a call from someone speaking really fast with an Asian accent. They were asking a bunch of questions like if I owned a washing machine, what kind it was, whether I had a mortgage, and even my age. I just kept saying ‘no’ to everything until they finally ended the call.

Got a call at about 7.45 in the morning from someone trying to trick me into letting them into my computer. Such a waste of time, really should’ve been harsher with them.

This guy claimed he was ringing from Microsoft, but when I told him I don’t use their stuff, he quickly said I must’ve got it wrong and he was from Macintosh instead. I told him again I don’t use that either, but then he said he could see my ID on his screen. Once I mentioned I’m actually on Linux, he just hung up straight away.

We maintained the conversation, attempting to clarify that our computer was not located at this address, as it resided at our corporate headquarters where we have an in-house IT team. However, he disregarded our explanations, which understandably frustrated us, leading to a rather heated exchange. In the end, he abruptly hung up, displaying quite the lack of professionalism.

Got a call early this morning, about 8:30, from a lady with an Asian accent who said she was from Microsoft. She asked me, "Is your computer alright?" I said "It's fine." She chuckled and said something I couldn't make out, so I just told her the smartest move would be to hang up. Honestly, these lot must be cracked in the head!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, but when I told them I don’t use any of their stuff, they quickly changed to saying they were from Macintosh. Got a call from this number at 7:47, a lady with an Asian accent who somehow knew my name. She claimed to be from Microsoft Windows, but when I questioned her, she got quite rude and said they’d block my computer if I didn’t cooperate. Then she just cut me off. This is the third time in three days I’ve had calls like this from different numbers, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked this one now.

I've been receiving calls from this number throughout the week, typically ringing in before nine in the morning. Each time, as soon as we pick up and greet them, they cut the line. Quite peculiar behaviour, if you ask me!

I managed to keep the chap on the line for well over twenty minutes. I realise their time is precious, but honestly, I had no pressing engagements. My computer wasn’t even powered up! We ran through his whole script, and I even attempted to log into his website, but he just couldn't establish a connection. He became quite irate when I cheekily suggested that perhaps I should switch it on after all. Quite amusing, really!

It’s quite astonishing how many people are still getting caught out by this particular con! This scam has been doing the rounds for ages, and you'd think folks would catch on by now. They're even using area codes that give the impression they’re calling from the UK-like the 01420, which supposedly hails from Hampshire. But let's be honest, there's no way those calls are genuinely from there!

Heads up - some bloke ringing up saying he's from Microsoft, telling me my computer's been hacked or had a virus. I asked him for proof, like a phone number I could call back on. He dodged that and said there’s this special Computer Licence ID only Microsoft and me would know. Then he rattled off some long string of letters and numbers. I checked with my local IT guy and that was total nonsense! I told the caller if he couldn’t give me a proper number, I’d hang up - and I did just that. Pretty clear he was after control of my PC.

They rang us up on Saturday 10/3 and then called two more times on Monday 12/3, saying they were from Microsoft and that our PC had been hacked. They wanted us to switch on the computer so they could "sort out" the issue. Their tone was quite pushy and scary, so I ended the call. On Monday, they even got quite rude with my wife, which really upset and scared her.

some bloke rang claiming to be from microsoft, said my pc was getting hacked from abroad and about to crash. i played along at first but when he told me to switch on my computer so he could 'repair' it, i said no. he got pretty stroppy, even started shouting about me going to jail cause hackers would use my pc to mess with microsoft. i just told him ‘doesn’t bother me’ and he ended the call. what a nightmare!
