I received a rather peculiar phone call from a gentleman with a foreign accent, claiming to represent EON about my energy and gas accounts. The call was completely unsolicited! I’ve since made sure to block that number!

Got a call from a guy named Osman claiming he's from E-On, saying my contract needs renewing. Wouldn't share any specifics though and kept pestering me to say when I'd do it. When I didn't give in, he got really nasty, started swearing like mad with words like sh#t and f#cking all over the place. I've tried blocking the number but it's stubborn and keeps ringing me 7 or 8 times a day. If I hang up, he rings straight back, over and over, just to shout abuse down the line. Proper annoying!

For the past six years, this number keeps calling and just won’t stop. It says it’s from British Gas, Scottish Power, Eon, or the energy council every time. I told the caller to knock it off, but they got quite rude. The bloke said he was Ian from Eon! Sadly, I can’t seem to block the number.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying they were from Eon. They wanted info about a business address that I actually don’t manage or control. I stuck to giving the bare minimum, didn’t want to share too much. They asked about who owns the company but didn’t give me any names. I asked them to confirm their company (Eon) and what the call was about plus which address it involved. Honestly, these folks seem quite desperate. Maybe they’ve had a rough life, poor upbringing, or come from a not-so-great place - none of us get to pick where we come from, after all.

This lot really need to be looked into, totally rude bloke who kept telling me to listen even though i told him ive got the wrong place. He was after Durham Students Union or summat. I tried being polite and told him that, asked him where he got the number from, then he just cut me off. Proper rude and almost aggressive behaviour.

Got a call yesterday and then another today from someone claiming to be with British Gas about my electricity contract. He said he’d post me a new contract but oddly couldn’t give me the account number when I asked. Kept asking if I was the owner or manager instead. The number matched the one I had but showed up as an international caller, which felt off. I just ended the call after a bit of back and forth.

This number keeps phoning my work and every single time the person’s been quite rude. They called again just now and when I told them we don’t deal with Eon, the bloke raised his voice and asked why he’d be ringing if we weren’t with them. I was kinda taken aback and didn’t reply. Then he asked if I was the boss, I said no, and he just hung up. I’ve jotted the number down on a sticky note and stuck it to my phone, next time they ring I’m gonna answer with “hello, Action Fraud police, speaking :-)” to see what they do.

Some bloke called me saying he was from Eon Energy, but I told him I work for British Gas because I had a feeling it was a con. Then he says, "Oh sorry, my name's Eon and I'm actually calling from British Gas," which made me chuckle. Definitely a dodgy scam!
