Got a recorded message from someone claiming to be Mary Wan from something like Blakely Advice Company. They said I'd been in a car crash not long ago. Then just hung up. I blocked the number straight away and reported it, since this number is on the TPS and cold calling it is illegal.

They said they were from the NHS at first, then switched to saying they were with road safety. When I asked why they hadn’t taken me off their list like I told them yesterday, the bloke said it was because he ‘really enjoyed hearing my voice’ or something daft like that.

The caller initially asserted they were representing the NHS, only to later switch to the road safety division. Upon inquiring why my request to be taken off their call list hadn’t been actioned the previous day, I was met with the rather absurd explanation that the gentleman on the line simply “adored the sound of my voice.” Quite the peculiar response, I must say!

They said I could get compensation for head and neck injuries from a car accident. Thing is, I got "rear ended" 2 years ago and wasn't hurt at all. They told me "It doesn’t matter if you weren’t injured, the other driver's insurance has money set aside for compensation, and you’re eligible." I asked what’s in it for them and found out they keep 55% and I’d only get 45%. They reckoned the claim might get me between £1.5K and £2.5K. I told them claiming injury when I wasn’t hurt sounds like fraud. Just as I said that, my Tesco delivery arrived, so I had to end the call.

everyone needs to stop wondering how they got their number, especially with landlines cos numbers get recycled all the time, so you might have one previously used by someone else. The TPS is rubbish, it doesn't really stop these calls for that very reason. Also, they can find your info from public electoral records. if you spot a scam call, just record it and have a bit of fun with them. just got a call about road accident claims, gave them completely made up reg plates I googled, plus a fake name - "Gary Humperdink" lol. now just waiting to see if they ring back, gonna enjoy the show!

Got a call from a woman speaking with an Indian accent, she claimed there'd been a car accident in my family. I kept telling her that wasn’t true. She kept pushing me to remember if anyone close to me had an accident in the past couple of years. I kept saying no, and asked a few times how she got my number. She said it was from the Road Safety Authority. Honestly sounded like one of those dodgy overseas scam calls to me.

had the exact same thing happen to me. the guy said he was ringing abouut an accident i supposedly reported. i hadn’t had any accident tho, so i just ended the call. he definitely wasn’t from glasgow! calls like this can be really upsetting for older or vulnerable folks who might think a family member’s been hurt in an accident.
