They start off by pretending to be a distant family member or something, then say there’s an issue with your computer. They always drop the name Microsoft, trying to make it sound legit. But Microsoft have clearly said they don’t call people out of the blue, so this is a total scam. Seriously, don’t go along with anything they tell you to do.

I just got a call from this number, they said they were doing some sort of computer maintenance and wanted to speak to my hubby who passed away back in April. I was quite blunt with them since my husband never even touched a computer. Ended up just hanging up on them.

This week, I've had three calls from them. Today, they put on quite the show, spouting their usual nonsense about me being compromised. I decided to have a bit of fun and pretended to type away, although my computer was actually powered down. I then feigned panic, asking if my frozen screen could be the hackers they were so concerned about! This threw them for a loop, and they insisted I connect to their so-called server. I kept up the charade for a good ten minutes before bursting out with laughter, questioning why they felt the need to peddle such drivel when, in fact, I didn’t even own a computer (I can spin a yarn too). They ended up hanging up in a huff. Previously, I’ve even set my phone down near the radio and blasted some tunes-curious why they’re still intent on reaching out to me!

My missus answered the call but she’s always a bit suspicious because of what I’ve told her before and stuff we’ve dealt with. She heard the lady ask if she was #name, and then if she’s the main person who uses the computer. That’s when my missus just said “No thanks” and hung up.

This number has been ringing me incessantly today, but having seen the comments here, I've now added it to my block list. Sadly, this isn’t a proper solution, as these con artists have been harassing me for years using various different phone numbers. I recall getting a similar call while I was holidaying in Spain a few years ago too! If everyone gave it a go and blew a whistle down the line, perhaps it might just put a stop to these scams targeting us in the UK.

I get loads of calls all the time from people saying they're from some tech support or my internet company, saying my computer is infected or my router is acting up. It's definitely a scam!!! And that's just one of the many numbers they use. Sometimes I just mess with them if I’m bored, but honestly, it’s getting really annoying now.

A bloke claiming to be 'Kevin Jones' with a thick Indian accent called, saying he was from Urgent Tech Assist about my computer being hacked. I asked him which one out of the four computers I have, and he just said the "main one" (yeah, right, real original). I noted down his info and told him I’d check with Microsoft to see if he was legit. Proper cheeky! I try to keep them on the phone for ages - better they’re chatting to me than tricking some poor sod who’s clueless.

Got a call today from a guy who sounded Asian, said he was from the tech team. Asked if I was at my computer - I said yes and put him on speaker. Then he asked what was showing on the screen. I told him our bank details were up and asked if he wanted them. He just called us liars and ended the call!

I received a call earlier today from a woman who had a distinctly Asian accent, claiming to be from Microsoft. She was looking for someone named Mr Matthews, which is certainly not me. She proceeded to ramble on about an issue with my computer, but I quickly cut her off, informing her that I work in IT and she was attempting to pull a fast one. She stubbornly insisted that she was genuine and from Microsoft. I asked her for her identification number, and before I knew it, she hung up on me without hesitation. Just a reminder, Microsoft typically doesn't reach out like this because they don’t really concern themselves with individual issues, given their dominance in the market. Stay vigilant, folks - this one’s definitely a scam!

"Just received a call regarding my computer."
Oh dear, how utterly tedious! I've encountered this nonsense far too often to be bothered now. They don’t get past my defences, that’s for sure! It's a mystery why some folks still fall for it; if it weren’t effective, surely they’d have been put out of business by now?

I've been receiving calls from individuals posing as Microsoft representatives, claiming there's an issue with my computer or a virus lurking about. Just a word of caution: Microsoft never reaches out to users unless you've specifically asked for help. These calls are nothing but a trap that could end up costing you dearly. Honestly, stay vigilant, folks! It’s important to keep your wits about you!

Lately, I've been inundated with calls from this number, with both men and women speaking in strong Asian accents, yet using what you'd assume are common British names. They all purport to be from Microsoft’s Technical Support. Honestly, I don’t mince my words-I let them know exactly what I think of their dubious activities before hanging up. Who knows, perhaps they might finally take a hint and cease their incessant ringing!

I received a call intended for someone named Mr Matthews-definitely not me! An Asian woman claiming to be from Microsoft rang up, insisting there was an issue with my computer. She went on and on about it... I quickly informed her that I'm an IT consultant and she was definitely trying to pull a fast one. She refuted my accusation, still insisting her affiliation with Microsoft. When I asked her for an ID number, she hung up like a shot! Just a heads up, Microsoft doesn’t make unsolicited calls; they’ve got such a grip on the market that they couldn’t care less if you were experiencing technical troubles. Stay alert for these fraudulent callers!

What absolute nonsense - some bloke of Asian descent just called, claiming my computer was at risk! Naturally, I hung up straight away. It baffles me why the network providers can’t just block such numbers altogether. I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, yet it feels like I’m constantly being harassed by these calls. As someone who’s elderly and has disabilities, these intrusive calls really feel like a violation of my personal space, especially since just picking up the phone is quite a challenge for me.

01415637520 - Couldn't really understand the caller properly, their Asian accent was quite strong. They mentioned something about an issue with my computer and offered to help fix it, I think? Since I was scammed recently and had a bunch of security updates done by Microsoft just a couple of days ago, I asked if they had my security code, which they didn’t. I've received calls on my home phone from folks claiming to be from Microsoft, insisting there’s an issue with my computer being compromised. They tryin to get into your computer remotely - if you can hold them on the line for like 20 mins it might help stop them scamming others who arent as careful.

I received a rather suspicious call purporting to be from Microsoft, claiming that my software licence had come under attack from hackers and would be suspended unless immediate action was taken. The caller managed to coax me into running various commands, such as "eventvwr" and "sysinfo," to supposedly demonstrate a problem. Before long, they directed me to the TeamViewer site, convincing me to grant them remote access to my computer. It wasn’t long before I was handed off to their supervisor, who insisted on “resolving” nonexistent issues for a fee. When I insisted that everything was fine, he maliciously locked me out of my PC by placing a startup password (using syskey), all while arguing with me, before abruptly terminating the call. Fortunately, I had set up a virtual machine just the previous weekend specifically for these sorts of calls, meaning I lost absolutely nothing and successfully wasted a good half-hour of their time! However, had I been using my actual machine, the outcome could have been disastrous, possibly resulting in the loss of valuable data, or at the very least, a tedious and expensive recovery process. Just a heads up - MICROSOFT DOES NOT COLLECT CALLS RANDOMLY TO FIX ISSUES. If you find yourself in a similar situation, simply tell the caller that you own an Apple Mac (or don’t have a computer whatsoever), and that might just get you removed from their obnoxious and illicit calling list. They seem to frequently change their numbers, so keep your wits about you! 😉

Got a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft, warning me my software licence was under attack by hackers and would be cut off unless they sorted it out. I ended up keeping them on the line for like 35 minutes just messing about. :-D REMEMBER, MICROSOFT DOESN'T RING YOU OUT OF THE BLUE TO FIX THIS KINDA STUFF - JUST SAY YOU'VE GOT A MAC (OR NO COMPUTER AT ALL) AND THEY MIGHT FINALLY STOP HARASSING YOU. Those scammers switch numbers all the time, so keep your wits about you! ;-)

If you get calls from people actually speaking, make sure to report them to the ICO (assuming you’re signed up with the TPS). For silent or dropped calls, report them to OFCOM via their website. Spam callers don’t give a toss about complaints on here, but they do take notice when reported to Ofcom or the ICO, which takes barely a couple minutes. And if you haven’t signed up with the TPS yet, honestly, you’re just asking for it. Don’t expect your phone company to help much either - they just cash in on selling caller ID and making more from blocking services.

I honestly can’t understand how these kinds of calls keep going on, targeting people who are vulnerable. I’m fortunate enough to just ignore them and feel annoyed, but lots of older folks and vulnerable people get seriously tricked and scammed, and guess who’s doing anything about it? Absolutely no one. It’s just awful. Surely there’s cash involved, and the phone companies and big businesses don’t seem to give a toss, letting these scammers get away with it because it makes them money. What a terrible state of things.

Got a call earlier today from someone who said his name was Harry. Claimed my computer was flagged as faulty on their system. He asked me to be sitting by my computer, but I told him it’s actually up in the attic! When he asked when to call again I said probably next year. He wasn’t having it and said he’d call back in an hour. I’ve blocked the number now with BT Protect. Number was 1572.

He claimed someone was trying to hack my computer (I don’t even own one!), so I asked what company he was with and where they were based. Then he said he was going to come ###, I just couldn’t help but laugh at him.

Absolutely a con, and I nearly fell for it myself! I foolishly allowed them to take control of my computer, and soon enough, they were demanding payment. I promptly switched off my computer and hung up the phone, but now I've bought a new machine and can't retrieve any files from the old one since it’s been locked. Whatever you do, don’t let anyone remote into your device; it could end up being incredibly costly! I've already filed a report with Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040 (that’s the cyber crime unit).

I exclusively rely on my answering machine, which is why I often receive silent calls. There's this particular number that keeps getting in touch, and it's based in Glasgow.

Got a call earlier. The bloke said there was a problem with my computer, so I thought I’d mess about with him a bit. Asked what colour his pants were! He said he’d let me know if he called back at 3 in the morning.

This guy said his name was Harry Patel, spelled just like that, and claimed he was calling from Westminster, London. He mentioned my number was tied to a licence and was listed on some Windows 35 database, working for a company called PC Online Solutions Ltd. Then he got annoyed, said I was asking too many questions (!) and threatened to ring me back at 3 in the morning (which seems to be a common theme according to others who’ve reported this number). I never really found out what he was after in the end.

Got a call from a woman claiming, "I'm ringing about your computer." I quickly replied, "You're not." Then I told her to bugger off and hung up. Honestly, I’d tell anyone else to just do the same. These scam calls are way too common now, and they’re just a bunch of crooks, so there’s no need to be polite at all.

Just like others have noted before, this seems to be a classic scam. The caller, posing as a computer repair service, claimed there was a virus on my machine and tried to manipulate me into giving them access. Oddly enough, while my caller ID displayed an international number, dialling 1471 revealed it was a number from Glasgow. Makes you wonder about their tactics!

The bloke said his name was Harry, but his accent didn’t convince me! He claimed he could sort out issues with my computer. I told him I work in an office with about twenty computers and asked which one needed fixing! He said he’d just charge a small fee to fix them all through mine! Naturally, he wanted my card details! I told him I’d grab my card and left him waiting for 10 minutes. After that, I thanked him and said I didn’t really have a computer, then blew a whistle down the phone!

I received a call from a bloke claiming someone was attempting to hack into my Mac. When I mentioned I didn’t own one, he switched gears and asked if I had a Windows machine instead. I replied that I only had an iPad, and just like that, he hung up. A few years back, we fell victim to a similar ruse where scammers, posing as Microsoft representatives, managed to access our system. They ended up locking us out and demanded a payment to regain access. It's a right con, and I can't stress enough - steer clear of such callers!

I received a call today from a dodgy number claiming to be from a computer support service based in Glasgow. When I called him out for being a scammer, he audaciously told me to be quiet! I promptly gave him a piece of my mind and told him exactly what I thought of his antics!

This number called my elderly mum, saying her computer would crash in an hour and a half unless she let them in to sort it out. Thankfully, she said she had to check with me before doing anything. She rang me, really scared. I looked up the number and saw the reviews here, so I told her to ignore any calls from them. They've been regularly ringing back, switching between this number and a withheld one.

Got a call earlier saying my computer was infected with a virus. When I said I was onto their scam, the guy got really mad and started saying he knew all about me and my partner, plus he could control my computer however he liked. I told the police because it made me feel uneasy but they didn’t seem that bothered at all. Strange!
