Ringing me almost daily, and as soon as my voicemail kicks in, the line suddenly drops. It’s clearly an automated call.

No voice message was left on my ansafone after they called several times. Always use an ansaphone and ignore calls from unknown numbers. If it’s important, they’ll leave a message. It’s straightforward. If everyone did this, these annoying callers would soon stop. I never share any details with them. When they ask questions like “Is this Mr. so-and-so?”, just don’t reply. Any answer, even yes or no, gives them info. Telling them “She’s not here anymore” gives even more away. Keep quiet and don’t say a word, not even about the weather.

On 16/12/2019 around 1.53pm, our main line rang with a Glasgow area number. I assumed it might be family calling, but when I picked up, a lady asked for #######. When I checked who exactly, she just said the householder and mentioned our address. She then claimed to be from Advantage Energy, saying she was following up on a previous call. I asked her to say the company name again, which she did, but I told her I wasn’t familiar with Advantage Energy and ended the call.

Got a call on my home phone this morning from someone saying they were with “Advantage, The Energy Specialists” offering a free energy usage survey. They insisted they weren’t trying to sell anything. When I asked how they got my number, they said it was a follow-up from a letter they had sent out recently mentioning the call. I explained my number’s on the TPS and told them they really need to double-check their calling lists. I’ve blocked the number now.

I just got a ring from this number and it was a friendly yet kinda condescending woman called Laura, sounded like she had a Northern Yorkshire accent. When I questioned her, she said she was with Advantage Energy Management. I asked what exactly Advantage was and why they were calling me out of the blue when I’m registered with the TPS. She snapped back saying, “We are and you’re jumping to conclusions!” I told her the only conclusion was that she was probably trying to scam folks, then I hung up and blocked the number straight away.
