On the 16th of June, about 4.34pm and then again a minute later, I rang my old contract sim. Interestingly, on the 13th June, the same number, 01414890701, had also given it a ring a few times. Bit odd, isn't it?

Somebody rang me up saying they got my number from a car crash report. They didn’t know my name or anything else about me. I told them I’ve never been in any kind of car accident, and they just said maybe it was a different one. But honestly, I’ve never had an accident like that! When I started asking more questions, they got quite rude, so I just hung up. Definitely a scam, no doubt!

I'm absolutely convinced that this person on the other end was out to scam me! He claimed to be representing some loan firm I'd never encountered before-not a whisper of it online when I searched. He started rambling on about a loan application that I supposedly submitted. As I’ve not made any such application, I promptly took action and blocked him without a second thought.

@ this loan outfit, i called them back and it sounded like one of those call centres. every person i talked to had a strong indian/pakistani accent and got pretty rude when i tried to ask stuff. one bloke even said something like, "i get that you’re saying you don’t want a loan, but trust me, you do." total cheek.

When I picked up, there was a weird pause and then they started with a greeting I couldn’t really understand. I told them my number’s on the telephone preference service list and asked why they were ringing me, then they just cut off the call.

I got a call from someone saying they were with ‘loans2go’ who told me they'd found out I was applying for a £1000 loan, which I wasn’t. Like with most dodgy and annoying calls, I tried asking a bunch of questions but they were pretty rubbish at answering. When I pointed out they kept dodging my questions and just kept asking if I’d applied for the loan, they ended the call once they realised I wasn’t gonna fall for it.

Every day I get these pesky calls from 0161, 0151, and 0141 numbers. They never bother leaving a voicemail, which is pretty typical of most scam calls. My Android even marks them as possible fraud, so definitely annoying.
