When I pressed him for more information, expecting him to request my bank details (which, naturally, I had no intention of sharing), he suddenly claimed that the line was breaking up. At that point, I opted to end the conversation. Interestingly, I had indeed made a PPI claim about four years ago, but it was for a far greater sum than that measly £3,500! A quick search of the number revealed it to be a landline registered in Glasgow. I've attempted to find any mention of this 'National Refund Department' but all I've unearthed is a note from the Financial Conduct Authority labelling it as an unauthorised entity.
