I think these lot have some kind of insider info. Twice now, I’ve got legit reminder emails from Scottish Power, then the very next day, I get texts and calls from them pretending to be Scottish Power. Luckily I’d already paid up, so I knew something wasn’t right. They asked for my full name and address - all stuff they should have if they were the real deal. Watch out for this!

I've just found out that this phone number is linked to 21a Plymouth Road in Barnt Green, Birmingham, B45 8JF, and it’s under the name of Stuart Wright. At least we’ve pinpointed where this charlatan resides! It’s no surprise he’s got a posh pad; he seems to be making a tidy sum by conning folks!

I reckon this could be Scottish Power. I'm currently in a bit of a row with them concerning a completely erroneous estimated bill, even though I've consistently shared the correct readings and sent along images of the meters. They've even charged me for a meter that's not in my possession, which seems to be standard practice for them, unfortunately. That said, their actual phone calls tend to be somewhat more transparent, albeit sometimes a tad menacing, with threats of legal action and talk of fitting a prepaid meter-all for a mishap on their part. Interestingly, the last calls I had after contacting their published support line came from South Africa and were indeed from Scottish Power. Received a call from a chap in Glasgow purporting to be James from Scottish Power. He bombarded me with all sorts of questions, which immediately put me on edge since I’d never had a call from them before. He claimed I had an outstanding balance of over £400 and seemed keen to take payment straight away or pass my account to debt collectors. While I do owe them money, it’s certainly not that much. I told him to send all the details through the post instead of via email. Fingers crossed this is just a dodgy scam; otherwise, I’m in a bit of a pickle!

Received a call from someone claiming to be from Scottish Power, which happens to be our energy provider. They were keen to speak with the account holder and requested my name along with the first line of my address and postcode. When they inquired about my date of birth, I declined to provide it, and when they asked for my phone number, I refused again since they were the ones who initiated the call. They said they needed these details to access our account but were rather vague about it, unable to share even basic information like our tariff or whether we have smart meters. The contact number they gave us was a genuine Scottish Power number. We decided not to follow up on it. The caller had an Asian accent.
