Got a text from some BPO about VirginMedia. I moved like two months ago and already sorted the last bill with VirginMedia. If there was a problem with the payment, I would have thought VirginMedia themselves would have phoned or sent a letter, not some random BPO texting me.

Got calls from BPO Glasgow twice today. The first was some sort of recorded message, the second was supposed to be an agent but just silence when I answered. Another call said they weren’t at this address, yet they keep ringing me non stop every day. Asked SKY about it and they want to charge me to block these annoying calls? Ridiculous!

Something very similar happened to me. They called saying they were from a BPO and gave a reference number or something. After seeing all the comments here, I just ended up blocking the number. I don’t owe any money and even if I did, I’d expect a proper letter sent to my home address, including my full details and the company’s info plus why they’re contacting me. Anything else just seems dodgy and doesn’t merit a reply.

I've noticed this number popping up loads and seen similar grumbles on different forums going back to 2013. Most folks reckon it's a scam, though some mention it being from a BPO. Trouble is, the number listed on the BPO’s site doesn’t match the one that texts me, so I’m just gonna ignore and block it.

Just to clear it up, in Scotland we don't have bailiffs like they do in England. The only way someone can come onto your property is if they've gone through the high court and got specific permission - and even then, they can only take items worth £3000 or more. It's pretty unlikely that this would happen without you being told beforehand. Plus, this sort of thing only happens in really serious cases. Honestly, any debt collection agency that sends texts about debts to mobiles without properly checking who they’re messaging sounds pretty amateur to me.

I’ve been getting loads of texts telling me to call this number but I don’t owe any money or know who they’re after. It’s been happening all night, like at 10.30pm, then again last night at like 2.30am and 5.30am. It’s so annoying I ended up switching my phone off overnight just to get some peace.

So I got a call claiming to be from my mobile network. Everything seemed fine until I passed their security checks - name, address, DOB, even my landline number. Then they started asking weird stuff like what phone model I had, how much my bill was, how long I'd lived at my address, and details about my employer. I wouldn’t answer those and told them they should already have that info. Afterwards, I got a text saying to call a certain number with a reference. A few seconds later, my landline got 3 voicemail messages with the same info. Turns out it’s a debt collection company. As a retired cop, I’m planning to pay them a visit to check their methods. Once I find their address, I’ll share it online. There are legit debt agencies out there that help folks, but if you’re innocent, don’t give in to the pressure or pay up without checking. That’s exactly what they want, and they’ll drag their feet giving refunds if you’ve paid by mistake.
