Cheers to everyone who warned me about Utilia. I called their complaints line and gave them a proper telling off. Also messaged their CEO on LinkedIn and today I’ve reported the calls to the ICO, the Information Commissioner’s Office. It probably won’t stop the calls straight away, but if loads of us complain, they’ll have to look into it and Utilia could get fined. This number has rung me a couple of times within 48 hours. I picked up earlier today and noticed the typical delay caused by a call centre's auto dialler before anyone spoke. Before the person could start their pitch, I kindly said, “Given how long it took you to answer, I’m pretty sure you’re here to sell me something I neither want, need, nor asked for. Please don’t call again.” I’m certain they’ll ignore my request, but at least I felt a bit better saying it. I’m about to block this number now.

Finally, a caller who bothers to leave a voicemail! Though I wish they hadn’t gone over the same info three times and still neglected to mention who they were, what their direct line or extension was, or even their name and working hours. They’re apparently pushing for smart meter installations, but it’s a bit annoying they didn’t check first if the person already has one installed. Surely, a quick call to the property’s energy provider would clear that up before wasting anyone’s time.

Without a doubt, this is a really pestering caller. I don’t even bother answering anymore, but they just keep ringing.
