I keep getting calls from 01413099256 and as soon as I pick up, they just hang up straight away. I have a feeling it’s something to do with smart meters, maybe Scottish Power? It’s really annoying and feels like harassment. Does anyone know how to make it stop? It’s driving me mad!

Over the past few weeks, this number has rung me about eight times and whenever I pick up, the caller just ends the call straight away. I’m not interested in getting a smart meter, but if Scottish Power were serious about it, you'd think they’d at least have a proper chat instead of hanging up as soon as you say hello.

I’m not exactly sure what’s going on but there’s loads of phone scams about these so-called ‘smart meters’ at the moment. If you actually want one, it’s best to ring your energy supplier yourself and ask about it. They’ll probably be happy to sort it out. As for cold callers, I’ve learned to just say no thanks, nicely or sometimes a bit less kindly. It’s a shame, but you just can’t trust unsolicited calls any more these days.

Honestly, if I wanted a smart meter, I'd just say so! But I don’t, and unless there’s a new law made, I’m not having one put in. Having a gadget that can just switch your electricity off whenever it wants? Nobody would be okay with that. I feel sorry for folks who’ve been backed into a corner and had no choice. Think about a hacker getting in... the damage to our systems could be awful. It wouldn’t be as simple as just flipping a switch back on. It could really throw us back to living like in the old days!

Called to arrange a smart meter fitting and it was definitely Scottish Power on the line. Genuine and straightforward about the appointment.

This number, 01413099256, kept ringing a bunch of times every day. I don't pick up though because my phone company always marks it as spam. If it was a legit person or company, you'd think they'd leave a message, but nope, nothing at all.

Got a call from Scottish Power the other day, they were trying to strongarm me into accepting a smart meter, claimin it was part of the fine print when I switched my plan. They threatened to cancel my contract if I refused. Well, if they wanna cancel, fine by me - I’m not backing down. Bring it on, see what happens!

Got a call from Scottish Power saying something about new legislation and that I'm meant to have a SMETS2 smart meter fitted. Honestly, I've decided to leave it alone for the moment since it doesn’t really help me right now. I work in this field, so I can tell you that SMETS2 is meant to fix the issues people had with SMETS1 meters. But seriously, Scottish Power need to ease off - they used to ring once a day and now it feels like it’s twice a day. It’s getting a bit much.

I had a phone call from this number where the caller asserted they were representing Scottish Power, adamantly stating that I needed to have a smart meter installed as per their terms and conditions. However, I suspect they're not affiliated with Scottish Power at all. After I got in touch with Scottish Power directly to voice my concerns, they informed me that having a smart meter is mandatory. Strangely, they didn’t seem bothered that someone else was masquerading as them. My advice? Steer well clear of both sides!

They’ve been ringing me daily for the past three days straight. I’m actually with Scottish Power, but every time I pick up, I have to say no to the smart meter and ask them to quit bothering me. From what I’ve heard, loads of those smart meters they fit end up breaking down anyway.
