Someone pretending to be from Halifax kept ringing me loads of times. I rang Halifax myself and even popped into my local branch. Neither of them could find that number as one of theirs and said if they’d tried to get hold of me there’d be a note on my account. I've never actually been with Halifax, so I gave them a fake ID and it was so funny 😂. They claimed I was behind on six months of payments and that the police were on their way to arrest me. I acted all scared and pretended to bolt my door. Then I said someone was knocking loudly outside, and he went, "Hurry up and pay me or I'll let them in." I gave them made-up bank info and then he got annoyed at me for trying to scam him 🤣😅😅😅

Just a heads up - if you ring this number, they’ve got a recorded message that sounds like Halifax bank. Best to always use the numbers on the back of your card, never the one that rang you. I called out of interest and the message sounded real enough. But when you talk to an actual advisor, if you’re worried, ask them to make a note on your account and tell them you’ll ring them back on the official number.

They said they’d already sent a letter, which isn’t true - all I get from Halifax is my regular mortgage statements. Feels like a total scam to me.

getting calls every day, so i rang Halifax through their main line but they had no clue why I’m getting these calls. rang again today and asked them to put a note on my account so the mortgage people would know when I ring later, but they said they cant do that since I hadn’t gone through security checks. They say everything is fine with my account and no problems.

Yes, indeed this is the Halifax. I received two missed calls yesterday, so I decided to do some research. Many people online were claiming it to be a scam associated with Halifax. However, since I am currently in the process of selling my house and my mortgage is with Halifax, I proceeded to call them. The lady on the other end verified that the phone number in question belongs to Halifax.

I received a phone call this morning regarding my Halifax mortgage. The person on the line asked for my full name and date of birth for security purposes. I did not provide them with my full name, but the caller insisted on knowing it. Then, he informed me that he needed to check the account details and put me on hold. Instead of waiting, I decided to end the call by hanging up. It left me wondering about the authenticity of the situation. 🤔

Got a call on a Sunday arvo!!! They said they’re from Halifax about my mortgage - wanted me to confirm my name and DOB, I said no, not comfy with that, so she told me to call Halifax myself. Then the same woman rang again this morning, same questions, same answer from me. But this time she told me to ring another number and made sure I wrote it down right. 0800 028 3861 - That number seems fishy too. PLEASE DON’T TRUST IT. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR DETAILS!! TOTAL SCAM! I rang my mortgage provider myself and they said no one’s called me at all.

I got a call from Halifax about some overdue mortgage payments. A woman, sounded like she had an Indian accent, asked me to verify my full name, date of birth and postcode. Once I gave her those details, she mentioned info about my account that only Halifax would have. I can see why some might doubt it’s genuine since they do ask for personal info like name, dob and postcode, but for me this number was definitely real.

Someone rang me asking for two numbers from my pin. I said I wasn’t happy sharing that info with him. He was quite polite actually and told me to ring Halifax directly about my mortgage but didn’t give me a different number to use.

Got a call from 0141 301 2019, the woman said she was from Halifax and started asking about my bank account. When she asked my name, I said no, and then when she asked for my date of birth, I said no again. After that, she just ended the call.

Total scam. The caller said they were from Halifax, but when I told them I’d ring back using the number off Halifax’s official site, they just hung up. Halifax confirmed it’s definitely a fraud.

Got a call from a bloke with a Glaswegian accent saying he was from Lloyds Bank, but I’ve never even had an account there. Felt a bit iffy about giving any details and just ended the call.
