I think it could be some sort of Lloyds Bank scam, but the number shows up as being from Glasgow. I've never had any business with any Lloyds branch there, so I just don’t pick up. This number has rung me a few times saying they’re from different banks. They sound quite convincing - if you don’t give out any details, they usually say they'll send a letter and hang up, which seems quite normal but it's all a load of rubbish. Weirdly, this morning I got a call from one bank on my home phone and a completely different bank on my mobile at the same time.

Someone called pretending to be from Public Health England, asking about my life insurance after the Covid situation. I said I did have insurance but wasn’t sure which company. They told me to just name one, so I said Churchill. Then the next day, a different number rang me asking the same stuff, and I gave the same answers. On the third day, I got a call from a withheld number claiming to be Churchill, saying I needed a mandatory review of my life insurance with them. Thing is, I don’t actually have any life insurance with Churchill. When I called them out on it, they just hung up on me.

Loads of calls missed from these numbers while I was busy at work. They kept ringing me every single day for a whole week, even as early as 8:30 on a Saturday morning. I decided to ring back and told them the office was rubbish and only open from 9 till 1 on Saturdays. When I phoned again at 9:05, it was still closed!

They kept claiming to be from Lloyds Bank Mortgages. I contacted the actual mortgage department at Lloyds and they said they had no idea about that number. The bank advised me not to share any details or talk to these callers. Even after telling them repeatedly to stop calling and to send letters instead, they keep ringing. What’s worse, they even ring my partner's phone, and he’s not on the mortgage at all. This feels like a serious data protection violation, and “harassment” doesn’t even cover it.

I got a call from a woman claiming to be from Lloyds about my late dad’s mortgage. It was around 8:18 on 21/11/20. I told her if there’s anything important, to send it through in writing and that I’d handle it by visiting the bank myself. Then I ended the call.
