Sounds like a scam to me, the recording said Zinc Debit at the start. Then I got put on hold in a queue! I ended up hanging up after waiting around 5 minutes.

My landline got a call from 0141 230 9003 twice, claiming to be British Gas and telling me to press a number to make a payment. I hung up, then called British Gas directly who said none of their numbers match this one. Totally a scam. They called again just now, I didn’t pick up, but they left a message asking to return the call to the same number. Definitely dodgy.

I didn't pick up the phone but after seeing what others said it might have been that zinc firm. I've spoke with them before about some water charges bill they said I owed. Feeling a bit wary now about carrying on dealing with them after reading other people's experiences.

They said they were from a debt collection agency working for SSE, who I’ve had issues with before. I was told that I didn’t owe anything though. They also took the credit balance I had when SSE took over my old energy supplier. I’m really not sure if I should trust them or not. Got a call from Zinc Credit Management claiming I owe Vodafone money. I’ve never had an account with Vodafone and definitely don’t owe anything. Feels like a total scam to me. The numbers they called from were 01789405056 and 01412309003.

Zinc Debt Group, absolute con artists trying to convince you you owe money to a company you might have used ages ago. For me, it was Virgin Media. I closed my Virgin account years back and it was never overdue. What really bugs me is they tracked down my work email, which I’m fairly sure is against the law. So, off to the ombudsman I go to report these muppets! Your data is yours, and if you didn’t consent to them using it, then they’ve gotten hold of it unlawfully and deserve to be stopped!

Got a call from some Zinc debt people claiming I owed money to a company I used ages ago, Virgin Media in my case. My Virgin account was settled years back, no outstanding balance. What freaked me out more was they had my work email address - not sure how they got that, but it has got to be against the law. So, I’m off to complain to the Ombudsman about these lot. Your personal info is private, and if you never agreed for them to have it, they must have got it in a dodgy way.
