Got a call from a Scottish bloke claiming to be Scottish Power. Once I confirmed my last name, he just ended the call. Bit disappointing cause I was ready to keep him chatting for ages. Definitely don’t give them your surname!

This is definitely a scam. Just block it. Didn’t pick up when they rang the second time. I usually avoid answering calls from numbers I don’t recognise, but since it kept ringing I looked it up and saw what others said. Then I contacted Scottish Power to check if they’d been trying to get in touch with me since I have an account with them - they weren’t. Best to just block or ignore these calls.

He mentioned something about civic law stopping him from booking an appointment to fix the problem. If that’s true, why even ring me in the first place?

They were after my personal info and bank details. Never give out anything about yourself!! They asked for my name, birthday and who supplies my utilities. I was stupid enough to tell them everything. A few days later, they rang again, acting like they were from my gas company!! Said they’d found me a better deal. It sounded so real because they knew so much about me!! I was nearly about to pay a bit over the phone, but then I remembered the first call and told them to hold on!!! That Indian guy got proper angry! Be careful out there!
