Got a call from this bloke "Andrew William" claiming to be from some foreign call centre pushing wearable personal alarms. Never heard of this one before. Luckily he didn’t get around to asking for any details or money. Pretty sure it’s a scam.

I answered my phone and a bloke with an Asian accent started with "Hello, David Michael here..." I just replied "No you're not" and ended the call. Honestly, they must believe we're all daft or something.

This number has rung my landline twice in the past month now. I just let it ring out both times and didn’t pick up. Before my answerphone could even turn on, they’d already hung up. Definitely seems like another dodgy SCAM call ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿคจ

My landline rang but I didn't pick up, and there was no voicemail left either. Definitely looks like a SCAM to me ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Just like every other time, the call only picks up when you start talking - total scam if you ask me!

Got a call just outside St Albans from someone with a very strong foreign accent, trying to sell me a panic alarm button for £15 a month. Felt really dodgy, seemed like a total scam to me.

Why are these scammers still allowed to have a phone line when we’re all aware it’s a scam? Surely, someone could step in and put an end to this!

This number kept calling me but as soon as I answered, there was nothing but silence. Feels like a scam to me.

Got a spam call today. Was left hanging on the line for ages but nobody ever answered. Completely pointless.

Noticed these spam calls are back already, looking at the dates of past comments. Definitely a scam, best to stay clear.

Got a call on my home phone from a number that’s brand new - only my sis has it, so that’s a bit strange. I answered and there was complete silence on the other end. Now I need to figure out how to block that number.

Looks like these calls have kicked off again after being quiet for a good few years. I’ve already gone and blocked the number.

Some bloke rang up and asked if I was the person who owns the house, then he went all posh on me, chatting about loft insulation and some government grants or something. I didn’t hang about and just ended the call straight away.

This bloke claimed he was calling from some government energy firm. He was going on and on, then suddenly asked for my full name and postcode. I thought it sounded fishy, so I asked if he was trying to scam me. Next thing I know, he just slammed the phone down. Definitely don’t share your details like that, they could easily rack up massive bills in your name.

some bloke rang me sayin he was from the energy company in my area and reckoned i owned the house. i asked him to tell me my postcode and name to prove it, but he just told me to have a nice day and then cut me off. weird one.

Someone rang claiming to be from an energy company and said I owned the property. The moment I asked questions about it, the line just went dead - probably some kind of automatic system.

i picked up and this posh sounding bloke said he worked for some energy firm, asked if i owned the place and if i was up to date with the bills. i told him no and then asked if he was a con artist. he just hung up on me right away. these people are so dodgy, be careful! i checked the number afterwards and it charges 23p per minute. watch out!

I received a call from a woman’s voice claiming that £600 had been withdrawn from my debit card and dispatched overseas. She then prompted me to press 1 for more information or 2 to sort it out. Naturally, I did neither and promptly ended the call. This happened in Exmouth, Devon.

Some bloke rang saying he was an energy advisor for the area. He asked if I owned the house, and when I wondered how he got that info, he just hung up on me.

Quite reminiscent of the previous instance, this chap claimed he was representing a nearby energy firm and inquired if I owned the property. Naturally, I was curious about the purpose of his call, but lo and behold, he simply cut the line. Odd behaviour, to say the least!

I reside in Budleigh and my phone number ends in 908. We’ve been at this location for eight years now, and that number has been ours the whole time. Recently, I got a call from a different number, but unfortunately, I missed the chance to pick up before it stopped ringing.

A guy rang from a local number claiming to be my “energy consultant,” trying to run me through some scripted pitch. I politely told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call quickly. Usually, I wouldn't pick up these local numbers but thought I’d give it a go this time. Funny enough, I got a similar call just yesterday, but that one showed up as “private caller” on my screen.

I picked up the phone thinking it was a local call, but I must admit, it's rather peculiar for a local number to start with a "9". It was a courteous young chap on the line claiming to be my "local energy adviser". He rather swiftly assumed I was the homeowner without giving me a chance to respond, which prompted me to politely inform him that I wasn’t in need of any advice before hanging up. This marked the second such call I've received in just one day. The first one had come up as “Private caller”, which made me answer, as the only folks I know who do that are from the doctor's surgery. It appears that these callers are becoming increasingly clever at getting us to pick up! Despite being registered with the TPS, it certainly seems to make little difference.

I received a call from him, and apparently, someone else will be in touch regarding some matters related to insulation for reading. I almost forgot to mention that I record all my calls! They typically hang up the moment I bring that up!

I got a call from a research firm. They mentioned they'd get back in touch with me sometime down the road.

When I answered the call, it was utterly silent on the other end!

This is the second time I've had a call from them - it sounds like they’re either reading from a script or using some sort of pre-recorded message. They go on about being an energy advisor, asking, “I presume you’re the homeowner…?” I shot back with, “You haven’t the faintest idea who I am!” Not entirely sure who hung up first, to be honest. It’s utterly frustrating - I’m hesitant to turn off the ringer and just let the answering machine take over because I’m waiting for an incredibly important call.

They never said who they were representing at the start. Asked me if I owned the house, then started chatting about the government's warm home scheme and putting insulation in the loft. Seemed like a classic sales pitch to me. I always hang up if they don't tell me who they're from straight away.

Got a call from someone about loft insulation but no idea who it was. Was a bit strange since I didn’t ask for any info on that. Anyone else get this odd call?

I just received a rather curious call from a chap with a youthful-sounding voice and a distinct southern English twang. He introduced himself as the local energy consultant. Naturally, I asked, “What brings you to ring me?” To my surprise, he abruptly ended the call without a word. The number he called from appeared to be a local one, yet it begins with a 9, which has me scratching my head. I’ve done a bit of digging and found out that DIDWW Ireland Limited is involved in selling these so-called 'virtual numbers' - it’s not far from a scam, if you ask me!

I've just received another call from a young chap with a genuine-sounding voice claiming to be a local home energy consultant. It was quite evident he was reciting a script. He mentioned that my number was listed in their insulation upgrade records, suggesting cavity insulation had been fitted. However, he wouldn't disclose his company's name but did mention that they're based in Reading. This seems highly suspect, as I've never had cavity insulation installed, and I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

I received a rather half-hearted call from someone with a youthful English accent claiming, "I'm your local energy consultant." When I inquired whether it was a marketing ploy, they quickly insisted it wasn't. They then asked if I had recently had cavity insulation installed. I assured them that was not the case, to which they promptly ended the conversation. Definitely felt like a dodgy call to me. And just to note, my number is registered with the TPS.
