there's a load of dodgy calls coming from scammers in india these days. they use voip tech so the number looks local but it’s really not. with voip, they can grab a number for any place and just forward it to wherever they actually are. so it seems like a local biz is ringing, but the call could be from miles away. best thing is just to ignore and don’t pick up. sure, they’re a pain and it’s tempting to answer just to call them out, but honestly, it’s safer to just avoid them altogether.

this number keeps buzzing me on both my mobile and home phone, but they hang up before i even get a chance to pick up. i don’t dare call back cause it might be some dumb scam from a far off place like mongolia or something. seriously no idea who’s behind it since no voicemail or anything. why do they keep pestering me like this???

Not sure who rang me, but since Exeter is my local area, it’s possible it was a proper call. They didn’t bother leaving a voicemail though. I’m thinking if it was really important, they’d ring again. Still, I’m a bit wary because they called my mobile number. I usually only share my landline with people or services I trust. It’s easier to block numbers on my phone anyway.
