Received a ring from an Indian bloke on this number and when I asked which firm he represented, he snapped at me saying WHY YOU BEHAVE LIKE A FOOL. I just ended the call straight away. Being 70 years old, I really have no patience for rude cold calls from people like that.

On Bank Holiday Monday evening around 6.25pm, I got a call from this number. The bloke had an Asian accent and asked for me by name, saying he wanted to quiz me about a few things. I told him no and asked to be removed from his list, but he said he couldn’t do that since he wasn’t trying to sell me anything. I asked for the name of his company, but he just kept coming back with questions like whether I had a TV. I mentioned I’m on the TPS but it didn’t seem to bother him at all. After a while, I just hung up. Even though I’m ex-directory, it clearly doesn’t mean much these days. We really should be able to stop these annoying calls.

I reckon it’s some sort of agency hired to check how you get your TV services, maybe related to avoiding the TV Licence. They keep ringing my business number since it’s tied to a home address. I don’t have a TV Licence there because I don’t even own a telly at that place. Funny enough, they never bother calling my actual home number. At first, they’re quite polite but if you don’t want to reply about your TV setup, they quickly get nasty. For anyone sick of these annoying calls, I’d seriously recommend getting an answerphone that has call filtering and blocking features. I got the BT8500 and it’s been a lifesaver. It stops all robo calls because the person has to say their name and press a button before it even rings. This number popped up for me (just a little light blinked, no ring) but since they didn’t follow the steps, I never got disturbed. I blocked them straight after too, so if they call again, my machine tells them the call won’t go through. Honestly, it’s been a game changer!

I keep getting loads of calls from folks in India, some claiming I've been in an accident, others asking random survey questions, and even some saying my computer's got a virus. Whenever I block one number, they just ring me again from another. Trying to complain to their call centres is useless since the numbers they use are often one-time or fake ones. I've also spoken to BT and Virgin about it, but they say there's nothing they can do because the calls are coming from abroad. It's really frustrating!

If you’re sick of getting these annoying phone calls, I’d totally recommend getting an answer machine that can screen and block numbers. I picked up the BT8500 and it’s been a game-changer. It stops spam calls dead because the caller has to say their name and press a button before the phone even rings. So for the number above, it tried to call but only a little light flashed, no ringing because they didn’t follow the steps. After that, I blocked the number outright, so now if they ring back, the machine just tells them they’re blocked. Really handy, I’m well pleased with it!

Don't put much trust in the area code, it's almost always faked. These callers use internet phone systems and fake numbers to reach you. The best defence is to switch to a fresh number that hasn’t been recycled from your phone company, and be careful never to enter your real number on any online site. I keep a PAYG mobile with some cheap junk phone just for online orders - it’s cheap and doesn’t need topping up every month. The nuisance calls still hit our landline, but we're moving soon, and I'll grab a fresh number and go ex-directory when that happens. On the bright side, sometimes I mess with the scammers. One time, I convinced them I was a frail octogenarian with a terminal illness. They ended up selling my details to a funeral service, and when their salesperson called me, I gave them a hard time for bothering a perfectly healthy 30-year-old about funeral plans. Those calls came from an Indian "lady," as far as I could tell.

Received a ring from this number earlier, some bloke asking for a Mrs ***. Thing is, I’m single as a pringle, never married, so I asked who was on the line. He sounded Indian and immediately dived into some spiel, saying he needed to ask a few questions. I told him I’m on the TPS and wanted to know how he got my number. His reply? “So what’s the problem?” I explained that TPS is meant to block annoying calls like his, and that I was annoyed since he’d woken me up. Got a call from this number earlier today that I didn't pick up. Then, just before 8 in the evening, the same guy rang again. He was an Indian man and actually asked for me by my last name, which was a bit surprising. When I asked who he was, he just went quiet and ended the call. This number rang me today, and it’s not the first time either. A bloke called himself John from ‘Way of Life’ and wanted to chat with me by name. Claimed he wasn’t trying to sell anything, just wanted my opinion… yeah right. Told him I wasn’t bothered and hung up. I get calls from this lot nearly every week. Even though the number has a local English code, they’re actually ringing from overseas. This number keeps ringing me, often in bursts, sometimes even in the dead of night. There’ll be nothing for days, maybe a week, then suddenly they’re back at it, non-stop. I’ve had numerous calls from 01392581386, and each time it’s a person with an Asian accent who asks for me by my full name. They claim they’re not trying to sell anything but just want to ask a few questions. I always refuse to answer and tell them to stop calling me. Then as soon as I hang up, they ring back a few days later. Either they don’t get English or are just plain daft. Even when I say I’m on the TPS list, they couldn’t care less. It’s about time someone put an end to this endless pestering. I’m 72 years old and honestly don’t appreciate these calls at all. Got a call from the same number, same situation and ended up the same way. A woman, calling herself 'Jenny', was rushing through some script like it was a race. I've had this number ring me a few times before but I usually just ignore it. However, out of curiosity, I picked up when it rang at 1:09 am this morning. I’ve been on the kidney transplant waiting list for seven years now, waiting for that important call from the transplant team. Every time my phone rings, I hope it's them calling me. Despite being signed up to the telephone preference service to block these types of nuisance calls, I still get bothered. Got a call from someone claiming to be from "Way of Life" about some lifestyle survey. I reckon they're just after info to pass on, leading to more annoying calls or maybe a scam. When I looked up "way of life nuisance call," it said they ask for personal money stuff. Anyway, I've blocked the number now.
