The email seemed dodgy though, cause the account and reference numbers were hidden under the company name, so you couldn’t see them properly. Got a call from some Asian bloke trying to scam me out of my bank info. Don’t trust a word these crooks say - they make up company names just to sound legit. If you just hang up and don’t answer, they ain’t getting anything from you. They keep their real details hidden for obvious reasons, and those numbers are likely just fake, made by some computer. I just got off the phone with a lady with an Asian accent, who was rattling on about some debt from 2001 for £209.50. They said if I paid £52.38 now, they’d call it sorted. I got a letter from Arrow/Opos about a mail order account linked to me and Shop Direct (Carval), with some reference number and a PIN for contacting them. They claimed I owed Shop Direct an amount that's actually time-barred by law. I don’t remember ever having this debt, so I turned to the National Debtline for advice. They told me to write to Arrow/Opos asking them to stop contacting me. After that, I got a reply promising no more letters from them. Now it’s clear to me - these people are scammers. The debt supposedly started in 2023 but if i pay it right now apparently it drops down to £44. That just sounds really fishy to me, never heard of a firm doing that before. Got a letter claiming I owed money on a loan that I supposedly took out with my bank. What’s odd is the letter had a surname on it that I stopped using nearly 20 years ago. I actually got £12000 from Lloyds thanks to the PPI refund, so I know this is rubbish.
