Received a call just before 8am on January 29th from this particular number. When I picked up, there was nothing but silence on the other end, and they hung up without a word. Curious, I called 1471 via my TalkTalk phone to find out who had reached out. Since that incident, however, I've noticed charges piling up - first for merely answering, and then again for an alleged return call which I absolutely did not make. I strongly recommend reviewing your detailed phone statements to avoid any surprises. I'm rather displeased with this situation, and TalkTalk doesn’t seem particularly keen to investigate. Bloke rang me at 7.53am yesterday and he sounded really shifty, talking quietly and all jittery. Said he was from Domestic and General about the washing machine warranty. Told him we’d already got a letter saying it was renewed automatically, then he just hung up on me! Watch out for these scammy types. It’s a right shame with this country run by selfish Tories who couldn’t care less, but anyone who signs up to jobs like this either has zero brain or no morals at all! Don’t fall for it and never give out your info.

Got a call on Saturday 30/1/21 around 10:22am. A woman with an accent asked for me by name. I'm not even a Mrs, so that was odd. When I asked who was calling, she just ended the call. I'm ex-directory, so how on earth did they get my details? Really not pleased :(

I received a rather dodgy call today where someone attempted to threaten me with disconnection of my broadband unless I forked out £136.23 via debit card. Funny thing is, I don’t even have a broadband connection-only mobile internet! I queried the Indian lady about which broadband she was going on about, and when I cheekily mentioned I had three, she hesitated and admitted her screen showed me with three too, but she couldn’t pinpoint which one the charge was for. I pressed her further, asking her to name the three providers, just to see if any rang a bell. She abruptly ended the call-quite the laugh! If you find yourself in a situation like this, don’t hesitate. Just hang up and check directly with your provider to see if there’s anything to pay off. And remember, avoid giving any financial details to unsolicited callers!

She said alright, we’ll send the info to... then she mentioned my address! Then she asked for my birth date, and I told her I’m not giving that on the phone, she just hung up. How come they even have my address? This is getting ridiculous.

Got a call just before 8am on 29th Jan from this number. Picked up and no one said a word, then they hung up straight away. I used 1471 on my TalkTalk phone to identify the caller. Since then, I’ve been billed for answering and also for supposedly calling back, which I never did. Would advise anyone to double check their detailed phone bills just to be safe. However, given that I've already fielded a trio of similar calls this week insisting my washing machine is due for some sort of servicing, I didn’t give him the opportunity to elaborate. This past Saturday morning, just before nine o'clock, I was startled by an unexpected phone call that seemed to originate from a call centre in India. The individual on the other end claimed to be reaching out on behalf of Legal & General regarding something about my washing machine. I made it crystal clear that I was registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and firmly requested they take my number off their database and refrain from contacting me again. Unfortunately, this isn't the first instance; I've had similar disturbances two or three times in the last few months. Hence, I've decided to lodge a formal complaint with the TPS via their website at https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/complaint. They've requested details such as the name and/or phone number of the organisation, as well as the date and time of the call. After dialling 1471 to trace the last number, I found out that the voicemail identified the caller as ‘First Voice’ from a Braintree, Essex number: 01376 748025.

this person claimed to be from BT saying my internet was having problems, I hung up straight away. then they rang me again from another number 01478685308, but when i looked it up it turned out to be a forensic science firm!

Got a call again from someone saying they were with Domestic & General about my washing machine. I asked for their policy number but they said they weren't allowed to share any personal details, which I found quite dodgy. Then, when I asked for the model number of the appliance, the line just went dead. It’s crazy that these kinds of scam calls can still go on. Why don’t the phone companies just block them completely?
