10 yearsI received a rather unpleasant call from an individual who was adamant that I had a conversation with 'Pat' last Wednesday regarding compensation for a car accident - a rather baffling assertion, considering I've not been involved in any such incident. The chap was quite confrontational and, frankly, rather abrasive. He went on to claim that he deals with abuse throughout his day, all whilst scoffing at the notion of the Telephone Preference Service being anything other than a farce and an utter waste of funds. He even mentioned that they had my address and mobile number (which is how he reached me) and suggested he could ring back anytime! In a fit of exasperation, I left the phone off the hook while I stepped into another room. Regrettably, his quip about being “just down the road” fell flat, as he clearly misjudged the geography - there are two towns sharing that name, and he evidently chose the incorrect one along with its accompanying dialling code.
