Got a call from someone trying to push a phone deal and contract. When they asked for my bank account info, I fed them some rubbish details. Then they wanted to run a credit check, asking for my credit info, which I reckon is when the scam really kicks in to grab your cash. I managed to keep them chatting for a whole hour just to waste their time.

Sounds like a total scam to me. Someone calling with a really thick Indian/South Asian accent claimed to be from O2, which was a dead giveaway straight away since I’ve never dealt with them. They were offering a 50% discount on my phone bill “because of the hardship customers are facing” and “rising prices driving people away” or something along those lines - all for a bill I don’t even have! How generous of them, right? Best thing is to just ignore these calls, but if you fancy wasting their time, go for it. Every minute they spend faffing about with folks like us is one less minute they have to try ripping off people who might fall for it.

I got a ring from a woman who spoke with a strong Indian accent. She said she was calling from the marketing team at EE, trying to pitch me a phone upgrade. Since I do have EE as my provider, I asked who she was trying to reach. She completely ignored me and kept repeating her sales pitch, no matter how many times I asked. I told her if she was really from EE, she'd be able to tell me the name of the person she wanted to contact. After that, she just gave up and cut me off without saying anything else. Absolutely a scam, no doubt about it!
