On Christmas Eve, I got a call from a man with an Asian accent who claimed my Windows PC was throwing up loads of error messages. He said he could fix it for me. To prove he was legit, he told me to enter a command through the Windows start menu, which just brought up a normal error log on Windows. I’m sure he was planning to say these errors were a big problem. He kept insisting he could sort out my Windows system. But I told him he was lying and should feel bad about it. After that, he went quiet for a moment and asked if I worked in IT. Anyway, I had to tell him the truth: he said my Windows was causing loads of issues, but I don’t even own a Windows machine, all my computers are Apple.

I got a call a moment ago from a person claiming to be with a computer support firm, asking to talk to the owner of our PC. The bloke sounded Asian and there was some noise in the background. I told him my call was being recorded, but he just stuck to his script and I ended up hanging up.
