To convince me of his legitimacy, he instructed me to enter a command in the Windows start menu. This command would bring up a standard error log typical of Windows machines. I could only imagine that he would then highlight all sorts of fabricated issues, creating a sense of urgency. He was adamant that my Windows operating system could be salvaged with his assistance. I promptly told him he was being disingenuous and ought to feel a sense of shame. He paused for a moment and inquired whether I had an IT background. I reiterated that he was being dishonest, as he had asserted that my Windows system was in trouble-here's the catch: I don’t use any Windows devices; my entire setup is Apple-based!

The caller had an Asian accent and there was quite a bit of noise in the background. When I mentioned that my call might be recorded, he continued on with his pre-prepared lines without skipping a beat. Eventually, I decided to end the conversation.
