the person on the phone claimed my computer had shown some strange behaviour the night before and offered their help. i told them i hadn’t actually been using my pc and that i’d look into it myself or find someone to fix it if needed, then ended the call.

On the 13th of January 2017, a bloke rang me pretending to be a tech expert from Microsoft. He kept insisting I should switch on my computer or something. The number showed up as 01340077520, and when I looked it up, it came from Craigellachie, Scotland. The guy was really pushy, like he was desperate to get me online. I just told him “cheers mate, you’re having a laugh - must be the whisky talking!” and hung up.

I got a call from someone claiming my computer was sending out some kind of alert and needed fixing. I told them straight up that what they were doing sounded dodgy and they should stop calling me. After that, I just blocked the number.
