Got a message saying HSBC had put a direct debit of £280 on my Admiral Limited account. The message included a number to call if I didn't know anything about it. Definitely looks like a scam.

I had a rather peculiar experience the other day. Someone was masquerading as someone from HSBC, claiming there was a "debit" linked to my account. They went as far as pretending to be from the HSBC Fraud Protection Team. I received a text prompting me to ring a certain number. The only issue is, I don’t even have an account with HSBC! Quite fishy, if you ask me.

Got a message saying it was from HSBC with a code for a payment of £982 to Asda, telling me to ring a number if I didn't make it. Since I do have an account with part of HSBC, I phoned my bank directly to confirm and they said no such transaction was recorded. Marked it as junk.
