I received two calls from this number. The first was an automated message from HMRC, and the second time I didn't answer because I suspected it was a scam.

Definitely a scam, stay away from this number!

I heard a chat about how the government makes you sell your house if you end up needing to live in a care home. It’s a bit scary, really - like they just expect you to give up your home when you get older and need help. Not sure how fair that really is.

They never bother to leave a voicemail, just cuts the call short. If they can't be arsed to say who's on the line, then I just block the number straight away.

A nicely spoken lady called about some kind of deal for my driveway and asked if I owned the house. Definitely seemed like a scam or some phishing attempt. I just ended the call straight away.

My home phone kept ringing for ages but I just ignored it since I never pick up numbers I don’t know. Later, I searched the number on 'who called me' to see if anyone else had any info on it.

I got a call from this number earlier, claiming I qualify for a complimentary medi-alert device. I made it clear I wasn’t keen on their offer and promptly ended the conversation.

Got a call from some bloke asking if I was interested in a new driveway. Was pretty pushy and dodged every time I asked where they got my number from. Seems like a total con to me. This is actually the second time they've rung in just a couple of weeks.

Some bloke called me and asked if I had a driveway or something. I said, "Could you say that again?" but then just told him I was busy and couldn't chat.

There was this call from someone sounding all posh with proper English, but it was clear it was just a recording. They were saying I qualify for a Medical Alert pendant. When I didn’t answer their questions, they just ended the call.

I got a call saying I qualify for one of those medical alarms, but the call ended abruptly. Feels like it might be a con to me.

He kept jabbering on about some driveway offer, talking way too quickly. Told him I don’t have a road outside my house so no need for a driveway, but he just carried on. Would say steer clear of this one if you can.

Got a call from someone trying to sell me a medical alert pendant, kept asking if I was above 60 or not. I just cut the call off straight away.

Got a call from a young bloke with a thick southern accent, talking really fast and saying he was from some “Care” company. I asked him to say his firm’s name again, but he rattled it out so quick I only caught the word “Care.” He went on about some new government law affecting funding for care homes - something about having to sell your house to pay for it, like he’d heard on the BBC. Before he could start trying to sell me insurance to protect my home, I just hung up. Sounded like one of those dodgy scams trying to scare you into handing over cash or personal info. Stay sharp!

Got a call from a lady speaking with a posh English accent, saying I qualified for some kind of free medical alarm. I asked her who exactly she wanted to speak with, but she just kept repeating her opening line and mentioned her boss gave her a contact list. I told her if she’s got a list, she should know a name. She paused for a bit then just said thanks for my time and hung up. Not sure what the call was really about but I’d still say it felt sketchy.

I got a call asking if I had any protections for my assets in place. When I tried to find out who was calling, they just ended the call.

Got a call claiming they could help shield your assets from care home costs. First, there’s a recorded voice, but if you stick around and listen, it eventually puts you through to someone live. Total scam, watch out!

Got a call from a pushy woman named Kate who kept asking if I had a driveway. When I asked what for, she said something about her firm doing a piece on driveways and wanting a 'feature' one. Then she started asking when mine was put in. I told her that was personal and promptly hung up. Sounds like either a dodgy driveway firm trying to trick folks with the chance of being in some mag or just a total con. I'm based in Leeds.

I got a phone call saying that I was apparently qualified to get a free medical alert bracelet. But weirdly, they never actually said my name during the chat. When I asked who they thought they were talking to, the lady just wouldn’t say. She kept saying her manager gave her my details but never told me who she thought I was. Then when I asked her straight up “what’s my name?” she just hung up. Definitely sounds like a scam trying to fish for my info.

A rather formal lady named Kate rang me up, claiming her company was working on a piece about driveways and was eager to showcase them. She inquired whether I had a driveway and how long I had had it. When I probed for her reasons behind the questions, and she kept pushing, I firmly told her it was not her concern and hung up. Received a call today, and it was unmistakably a machine, albeit rather adept at mimicking a human tone. “I'm still getting the hang of this role,” it replied, “I’m just following a script, so forgive me if I come across as a tad robotic.” “I have a list of numbers I must ring each morning given to me by my supervisor.” When I inquired about the date, it quipped, “Oh, ha ha!” Turns out they’re based in Kent. Peddling medical alert pendants aimed at those over 50. The call ended abruptly as soon as I requested to speak with “her” supervisor.

If you get a dodgy call, text 7726 to report it - this helps phone companies flag suspicious numbers. Sadly, you can't report scams straight through the police's 'Action Fraud' site any more, as they’ve shut down that option (probably to save money). If you’re annoyed, maybe take it up with your MP. You can still send screenshots of scam messages to the cyber crime unit at '[email protected]' alongside forwarding to 7726.

Received a call purporting to be from BT, supposedly addressing some problems with my internet connection, even though they’re not my provider. The chap on the line was rather curt, and he abruptly ended the call when I didn’t respond straight away. He kept switching into another language mid-conversation, seemingly chatting to someone else too. It all felt very fishy, to say the least!

I received a call from a woman claiming to be from India regarding my internet service. The peculiar thing is, there wasn't a single issue with my connection. When I suggested that she might be another scammer, she abruptly ended the conversation. Strangely enough, she didn’t even know my name, and just referred to herself as Anna. Quite odd, wouldn’t you agree?

I received a peculiar call from a chap who had quite an unusual accent, asserting he was from BT Open Reach. He insisted that my IP email address had somehow morphed into a public one and that it was imperative to revert it back to a private status, lest I be compromised by hackers! He seemed rather keen for me to hop onto Google... but then, the line started to go all fuzzy, and when I mentioned I couldn't quite catch what he was saying, he abruptly terminated the call! Quite the odd experience, really.

I received a call from someone with an Indian accent purporting to be from BT Openreach, talking about issues with my internet speed. The problem is, I don’t even use BT! No matter how many times I insisted, he just wouldn’t accept it. Eventually, he ended up hanging up on me. Quite the cheek!
