I received a rather dubious call supposedly from BT, hailing from London, if you can believe it. The caller had quite a heavy accent and claimed that malicious files had somehow found their way onto my phone. They insisted that I should head over to my router for some guidance on the next steps. Naturally, I was sceptical and told them I’d be getting in touch with the engineer who had previously dealt with my telephone line instead.

An Asian guy called and just asked if this was our number. When we questioned him about why he suddenly ended the call, he hung up straight away.
