I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT Openreach's technical team, named "Jack." He mentioned some problems with my router and had a bit of an accent that sounded foreign. Honestly, it struck me as rather dodgy! I'm convinced it's a scammer trying to pull a fast one!

I believe this number might be compromised, so it's best to avoid sharing any details with the person on the line and just disconnect straightaway.

Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent claiming to be from BT Openreach, telling me my router was broken. I told her I hadn’t made any fault report. She insisted the router would automatically send faults. I said I’d ring BT myself to confirm, then I ended the call. The number she called from turns out to be linked to a holiday cottage rental business in Derbyshire. I contacted BT and reported the incident, they’re looking into it now.

this isn’t a legit number at all - these con artists are faking bt’s caller id so it seems like they’re ringing from the uk but they’re really not. they’re crooks from india trying to trick people by pretending to be bt, then somehow convince you to let them into your computer’s security. once they have access, they can nick your personal data like bank account info and credit card numbers. be careful!

A person called claiming they were from BT, said there was a problem with my router (which was true). They mentioned I was owed a refund and then somehow got access to my laptop remotely. They kept me on the line for about an hour and ended up taking £120 out of my bank without me realising!
