I had a rather charming young lady on the line, cheerfully informing me that they were once again renewing my boiler and central heating policy. True to form, I played along, acting as if I was remotely interested. After a bit of back and forth, she started going on about the direct debit details. I fed her a string of made-up bank info that bore no relation to where I actually bank, and she promptly mentioned that the details didn't line up. I simply replied that I was well aware, having intentionally thrown a load of nonsense her way. I suggested she could shove her phone where the sun doesn't shine and try her luck scamming someone else. Oh, and prior to that, I’d already had a chat with some "Asian" BT Openreach folks who were having their own set of technical troubles. What really made me uneasy was her knowledge of my initials and full address.

On 15th Feb 2022 at about 10.12am, I got a call from a lady claiming to be from a call centre trying to sell me a two year extended warranty on my fridge. I kept asking her which company she was with, and she said ‘White Goods Repair’. I asked where they’d got my number from, and she said it was from a survey I supposedly did showing interest in this kind of cover. I told her there’s no way I ever did that and demanded they delete my details. She then thanked me and wished me a nice day, which seemed a bit odd. Feels like one of those dodgy appliance warranty scams.
