Upon answering the call, I was greeted by a pre-recorded voice, clearly part of some scam operation. The message claimed to be from HMRC regarding outstanding tax payments or something along those lines. I wasted no time and promptly ended the call.

I keep getting calls every week from some company asking about vaccines and then suddenly about life insurance. They’ve not been as pushy or rude as I’ve heard other folks say, but when I asked why they didn’t just have the info themselves, they told me they needed to confirm stuff for their recording. Got a call from an Indian guy claiming to be from the NHS. He asked if I’d received my cocs certificate in the post, which I hadn’t, so he said he’d send it out. Then he mentioned I’d get a text soon inviting me for a booster jab and told me to notify my Medicaid insurance about it. He asked if I had Medicaid, I said no, and then he just said thanks and goodbye. Quite strange really.

Got a call from someone who said they were “Mr (first name)” and they actually knew my previous address, which was a bit spooky. They wanted me to confirm my surname so they could mail me a physical copy of my COVID certificate 😂. I wasn’t about to give it though, thinking surely they already had that info. Then, oddly, they started asking about what life insurance I had. When I asked why that was relevant to the COVID certificate, they just ended the call. Bit strange if you ask me.

Got another call from a random number today, probably a scam? I have this rule: if the caller isn’t saved in my contacts or it’s a private number, I just don’t pick up. If it’s important, they can leave a voicemail and then I’ll figure out if I know them or if it’s worth returning the call. If no message comes through, that number gets blocked right away when it shows up.

I got a ring from a number I didn’t recognise today. these days, I just don’t pick up if I don’t know who’s calling and let it ring off to voicemail - if it really matters, they’ll leave a message. I reckon if you pick up, you’re just confirming your number is active and then the scammers might pass your details around to other dodgy callers. Also, it’s best not to return their calls as some of those numbers could hit you with extra charges.
